Abstract: Nozzles (31) provided to a head chip (25) are disposed so as to overlap with part of those of an adjacent head chip (25) when viewed from the feeding direction of an object to be printed, the distance Ls between nozzles between the adjacent head chips of the same color is set to a pitch of even number, and the distance Ld between nozzles between the head chips of different colors is set to a pitch of even number. A tiling part can be printed in a checker pattern when separately driving a line head by the tiling having an overlapping part. The problem that color development in the overlapping areas is different from that in the non-overlapping areas is solved.

Abstract: With a liquid discharge device, a maximum of N liquid droplets are discharged so as to land within each pixel region for forming a pixel corresponding to the pixel region, a target landing position is selected at random for each liquid droplet, from M liquid landing position candidates, forming an array in the direction of an array of nozzles, determined such that at least a part of the landing liquid droplet region corresponding to each landing position candidate is included within the pixel region, and the discharge direction of the liquid droplet is controlled such that the liquid droplet lands at the determined target landing position. The liquid discharge device having such a configuration has the advantage of preventing occurrence of streaks between dot columns in a printed image due to irregularities in an array of discharge portions.

Abstract: An ink-jet printer and an apparatus and a method of driving a recording head for an ink-jet printer are provided for suppressing satellite droplets. Two piezoelectric elements are provided for every ink chamber corresponding to each nozzle. Timing of displacement of the piezoelectric elements is adjusted by applying a drive signal for ink droplet ejection to one of the piezoelectric elements and a drive signal for suppressing satellite droplets when a droplet is ejected to the other piezoelectric element. An auxiliary pressure generated by the displacement of the latter piezoelectric element is superimposed on an ejection pressure generated by the displacement of the former piezoelectric element. Trailing of ink droplet is cut off at an early stage and generation of satellite droplets is suppressed .

Abstract: In a liquid ejecting device having a head (11) formed by a liquid ejecting portion or liquid ejecting portions arranged in parallel, the direction of ejected liquid is controlled for each liquid ejecting portion. In the head of the liquid ejecting device, heating resistors (13) which are connected in series to one other in a liquid cell (12) are arranged in parallel in a predetermined direction. The liquid ejecting device includes a main operation controller which performs control for ejecting liquid by supplying equal amounts of currents to the connected heating resistors, and a sub operation controller including a current-mirror circuit connected to a junction of heating resistors and its switching element. By using the current-mirror circuit and the switching element to allow a current to flow into or from a junction of the heating resistors, the amounts of currents supplied to the heating resistors are controlled and the direction of ejected liquid is controlled (changed).
