    Abstract: PURPOSE: To provide a producing method of a plasma address display device by which an irregular gap of a liquid crystal layer or cracking of a thin glass plate due to intrusion of dust can be prevented. CONSTITUTION: A plasma address display device is produced by laminating a liquid crystal cell and a plasma cell via a thin glass plate 4. In this method, when a thin glass plate 4 is tightly adhered to the top end faces of many partition walls 5 arranged parallel to each other on a plasma substrate glass 31 to constitute the plasma cell 3, a dust held between the upper face of the partition wall 5 and the thin glass plate 4 is irradiated with laser light beams through the thin glass plate 4 to prevent the projection of the dust from the top face of the partition wall 5.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To make it possible to form discharge electrodes having good quality by first printing plasma substrate glass with the discharge electrodes, then printing this substrate glass with take-out electrodes at the time of forming the discharge electrodes and take-out electrodes on the substrate glass by a printing method. CONSTITUTION: The striped discharge electrodes 32 are formed on the plasma address glass by a screen printing method. The striped take-out electrodes 37 are then formed at the pitch equal to the pitch of the discharge electrodes 32 by partly superposing their terminals on the discharge electrodes 32. An insulating cover 38 consisting of glass is thereafter formed to cover the joints of the take-out electrodes 37 and the discharge electrodes 32 and the surfaces of the discharge electrodes 32 are screen printed with barrier ribs 33 and thereafter, the discharge electrodes 32, the take-out electrodes 37 and the barrier ribs 33 are fired. Further, a dielectric sheet and the plasma substrate glass are stuck to each other via frit seals 35 formed by applying low melting glass, etc., nearly around the joints of the take-out electrodes 37 and the insulating cover 38. The inside of the hermetically sealed chamber enclosed by the frit seals 35 is evacuated and mercury vapor is diffused therein after injection of gas.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To secure the flatness of a thin sheet glass for partitioning off a liquid crystal cell from a plasma cell constituting a plasma address electro- optical device. CONSTITUTION:On the inner surface of a glass base plate 4 a stripe-shaped signal electrode D is formed, and on the inner surface of a glass base plate 7 stripe-shaped plasma electrodes 8 that are perpendicular to the signal electrode D and division walls 9 laminated thereon are formed. In the space between the glass base plate 4 and an intermediately interposed thin sheet glass 3, a liquid crystal layer 6 is filled. In the space between this sheet glass 3 and the glass base plate 7 on the other hand, a plasma chamber 12 is formed. Between the thin sheet glass 3 and the glass base plate 7, flat plate spacers 10 are interposed. Along the outside of the flat plate spacer 10, low melting-point glass 11 is supplied for carrying out frit seal. In stead of the flat plate spacer 10 low melting-point glass previously formed in a strip shape may be used.

Both of the first flexible printed board and the second flexible printed board have such a structure that a reference potential layer for imparting a reference potential to the electro-optic panel and a signal potential layer for imparting a signal potential to the electro-optic panel are layered as insulated from each other. In an overlapped portion of the first flexible printed board and the second flexible printed board, the signal potential layer and the reference potential layer are alternately arranged.

SOLUTION: Material whose standard electrode potential has a value comparatively near to the standard electrode potential of an opposed transparent electrode is used as a pixel electrode 42A. Thus, the battery effect between the opposed electrodes is restrained in comparison with the conventional element using aluminum or the like as the electrode 42A. Therefore, the asymmetry of the liquid crystal responsiveness is restrained and the offset voltage required for the driving voltage is reduced in comparison with the conventional element.     Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate the discharge of a plasma address display device, to suppress a discharge charge quantity and to make a life longer. SOLUTION: The plasma address display device has a laminated structure obtained by superposing display cells 1 and plasma cells 2. The display cells 1 are filled with liquid crystals 9 and have column-like signal electrodes Y. The plasma cells 2 are filled with discharge gas and have row-like discharge channels 5 parted from each other by partition walls 7. Discharge is induced by impressing sequential selection pulses to the electrodes formed in the respective discharge channels 5 to form charge particles, by which the linear sequential scanning of the respective discharge channels 5 is executed. On the other hand, image signals are impressed to the respective signal electrodes Y in synchronization with the linear sequential scanning to drive the liquid crystals 9, by which image display is carried out. The partition walls 7 have openings 10 to communicate the adjacent front and rear discharge channels 5 with each other. The charge particles formed in the front discharge channels are introduced into the rear discharge channels 5s from the openings 10 to stabilize the rising of the discharge in the rear discharge channels. The charge particles diffused into the adjacent discharge channels acts as pilot fire, by which the rising of the next discharge is accelerated.
