Abstract: Antimony-based oxide complex catalysts are improved by adding to these catalysts an antimony-containing compound such as Sb 2 O 3 , in an amount of 0.1 to 25% based on an atomic basis of the antimony relative to the antimony already present in the catalyst. In this way a catalyst is produced which gives improved yields for example in the procuction of acrylonitrile by the ammoxidation of propylene.

Abstract: A tin antimonate oxide complex catalyst of the formula:… AaDbTedSneSbfOx… wherein A represents one or more of the following elements: Cu, V, W and or Mo; D represents one or more of the following elements: Bi, Ti, Ge, Ce, La, Cr, Mn, Mg, Ca, Co, Ni, Nb, Ta, Ag, Zn, Cd, K, Cs, U, B, P and Eu; and wherein a is 0.001 to 10; b is 0 to 10; d is 0.001 to 10; e is 0.1 to 10; f is 1 to 20; f > a + b + d + e; and x is a number sufficient to satisfy the valence requirements of the other elements present. … These multiply promoted Sn-Sb oxides are superior catalysts for the ammoxidation of olefins to the corresponding unsaturated nitriles, the selective oxidation of olefins to unsaturated aldehydes and acids, and the oxydehydrogenation of olefins to diolefins.

Abstract: Process for forming multi-component oxide catalysts. According to the invention the key catalytic phase of the catalyst is preformed and the elements of the host-catalyst phase are added together or separately. The key catalytic phase contains a molybdate or a tungstate of Bi, Te, Sb, Sn Cu or mixtures thereof. A representative catalyst is 50% [Bi2Mo3O12] 1/2 [K0.1Ni2.5Co4.5Fe3P0.5Mo10.5 Ox] + 50% SiO2 In the production of this catalyst a preformed bismuth molybdate slurry is added to a host-catalyst slurry. The mixture was then dried, calcined, ground and calcined once again.

Abstract: Disclosed is ammoxidation of C3 to C5 acyclic alkanes with NH3 and O2 using (1) a mole ratio of paraffin:NH3 in the range from 2 to 16 and a mole ratio of alkane:O2 in the range 1 to 10 and (2) a mixture of particulate catalyst compositions, the first being especially effective to promote formation of an unsaturated nitrile and an olefin from the paraffin, and the second catalyst composition being especially effective to promote the conversion of the olefin to the unsaturated nitrile. Catalyst compositions useful in the process are also disclosed.
