Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a biaxially oriented polyester film suitable for a base film for a high density magnetic recording tape in which cutting or stress elongation deformation are scarcely generated at the time of using as the base film for the magnetic recording tape, and which has excellent running durability and preservability. SOLUTION: In the biaxially oriented polyester film having 7 GPa or more of either Young's modulus (YmMD) of a lengthwise direction or Young's modulus (YmTD) of a width direction, a half-value width of a diffraction peak of a crystal surface of a main chain direction of a polyester in a circumferential direction obtained at the time of rotating the film at its normal as an axis is in a range of 55 to 85 degrees by means of a crystal orientation analysis according to a wide angle X-ray diffractometer method.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a film which is free from its stretching break and can be stretched at an area stretching magnification over a wide range of temperature, and further, shows high strength, wear resistance, dimensional stability and superb antistretching properties as well as a method for manufacturing the film. SOLUTION: This method for manufacturing a biaxially stretched polyester film includes a first-stage stretching step to concurrently biaxially stretch an unstretched cast film in the longitudinal and the crosswise direction at an area stretching magnification of 2-7 times within the temperature range of (glass transition temperature Tg+25) deg.C-(Tg+45) deg.C and a second-stage stretching step to concurrently biaxially stretch the cast film in the longitudinal and the crosswise direction at an area stretching magnification of 4-20 times within the temperature range of (Tg-15) deg.C-(Tg+10) deg.C following the first-stage stretching step. In addition, at least, either of the ratio R1 (IMD/ IND) of peak intensity (IMD, IND) in the longitudinal and the thickness direction or the ratio R2 (ITD/IND) of peak intensity (ITD/IND) in the crosswise and the thickness direction as measured by the laser Raman scattering method is 6 or more as the characteristics of this biaxially stretched polyester film.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To impart thickness uniformity and to achieve surface modification by longitudinally stretching a substantially oriented and uncrystallized polyester film in a manner divided into two or more stages and applying a polymer soln. or an aq. dispersion to the single surface of the film before laterally stretching the film. SOLUTION: A substantially non-oriented and uncrystallized polyester film is subjected to first stage longitudinal stretching to form a stack structure and subsequently further subjected to onestage or multistage longitudinal stretching. Next, a polymer soln. or an. aq. dispersion is widely applied to at least the single surface of the longitudinbally stretched film up to both end parts in the lateral direction of the film so that the ratio of the thickness of both end parts in the lateral direction of the film to that of the central part of the film becomes 1.5 times or more by using a roll coater. Since the lateral stretching again stretches the film having the stack structure, lateral stretching can be started before the polymer soln. or the aq. dispersion is perfectly dried.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a polyester film with which a film which is strong in lateral direction and excellent in thermal characteristics can be obtained, and a thermal transfer ribbon which is excellent in printability and a traveling property at the time of thermal transfer can be made. SOLUTION: A polyester film of substantially amorphous and not oriented is oriented lengthwise at temperature of two steps or more to make a uniaxially oriented film. Thereafter, the film is oriented at a temperature of a range from a glass transition temperature or higher of the uniaxially oriented film to a crystallization peak temperature or under. Further thereafter, the film is oriented again crosswise 1.05-1.8 times at a temperature of a range from a crystallizing peak temperature or higher to a melting temperature or under. After orienting the film again crosswise, the film is heat-treated. Thereafter, the film is preferably cooled by applying relaxation thereto crosswise at temperature of two stages of a range from the heat treatment temperature or lower to 100 deg.C higher than that.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a film having excellent heat seal properties and a high gas barrier performance and being excellent also in the properties of secondary processings such as deposition, slitting, lamination and others and suitable for various gas barrier packages. SOLUTION: This film is constructed so that a crystalline polypropylene resin layer (layer A) of which the rate of mesopentad is 98% or above and a mixed resin layer (layer B) of the layer A resin and polyolefin-series copolymer resin are laminated. In this case, the quantity of heat of melting of the layer B is 30-100J/g, while the Young's modulus in the length direction of a nonoriented film is 0.8Gpa or above and the rate of change of dimensions after heating at 120 deg.C and for 15 minutes is 2% or below.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a polypropylene film for print laminate, which reveals an antibacterial effect and is excellent in transparency by a method wherein a polypropylene layer containing the specified percent of inorganic antibacterial agent is laminated onto the front surface layer opposite to the surface, to which a printed matter is pasted, of a base material. SOLUTION: Polypropylene resin is used as A layer resin, while 0.5-10wt.% of inorganic antibacterial agent-added polypropylene resin is used as B layer resin. The above resins are fed to a hot extruder so as to be thermally fused at 230-290 deg.C and met in a mouth piece under the condition that their amounts of extrusion are controlled to aimed at thickness and extruded through the slit-like mouth piece in order to be wound round on a casting drum held at 30-80 deg.C for solidifying by cooling into an unoriented film. The resultant unoriented film is heated up to 115-145 deg.C and stretched longitudinally by a draw ratio of 400-700%. Then, after being cooled down, the stretched film is fed to a tenter type stretcher so as to be heated up to 140-170 deg.C an stretched widthwise by a draw ratio of 700-1,100% and finally relaxiatively heat-treated at 155-170 deg.C and cooled.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To obtain a biaxially stretched white film having excellent hiding properties and a good printability by forming a specific carboxylated polyolefin resin layer on a film comprising a crystalline polypropylene and specific polyolefins. CONSTITUTION: The biaxially stretched white film is obtd. by forming a layer of a carboxylated polyolefin resin having a glossiness of 60% or higher and a wet tension of 35dyn/cm or higher on a film comprising 55-93wt.% crystalline polypropylene, 5-30wt.% amorphous polyolefin (pref. a norbornene resin), and 2-15wt.% polyolefin having an m.p. of 140 deg.C or lower (pref. an ethylene-methyl acrylate copolymer). The carboxylated polyolefin resin is pref. one obtd. by grafting maleic acid onto a crystalline polypropylene and pref. is formed into a 2- to 10-μm-thick layer. Thus obtd. white film is excellent in hiding properties, has high optical density, cushioning ratio, glossiness, and wet tension, and is suitable for image-receiving paper for thermal transfer.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To improve printing properties and film making stability by bonding a porous support consisting of polypropyrene film and polypropyrene fiber together directly without using an adhesive, and specifying a separation strength between the film and the porous support. CONSTITUTION: Polypropyrene film is at least, uniaxially stretched, and an unwoven cloth is used as a porous support adhering firmly to the film. In order to bond these materials together directly without using an adhesive, a themal adhesion method is employed. When stretching preferably the polypropyrene film, the film and the porous support are thermally bonded together in a stage preceding the stretching process, and in the following stretching stage, are constretched. A thermal roll for thermal. pressure adhesion is employed as a themal adhesion means. The separation strength between the film and the porous support should be,at, least, 1g/cm, preferably, cm, at least, 30g/cm. If the separation strength is less than 1g/cm, the film peels off when transporting it, resulting in the generation of creases or breaks, so that the film cannot be prepared stably.

These A-layer resin and B-layer resin are supplied to separate extruders for going through a molten extrusion and filter so as to be joined for becoming an A-layer/a-B-layer inside a rectangular tube. Thereby, lamination thickness is to be 0.1-0.5mum.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide the title film enhanced in gas barrier properties and moistureproof properties by laminating a polymer resin or mixed resin layer B on at least the single surface of a base layer A to form a film and betting the center line surface roughness Ra of the B-layer of the film to a specific value. CONSTITUTION:A biaxially oriented polypropylene composite film for metal vapor deposition is obtained by laminating a syndiotactic polypropylene resin layer or a mixed resin layer B of syndiotactic polypropylene and isotactic polypropylene on at least the single surface of a base layer A based on polypropylene and the center line surf!uce roughness Ra of the B-layer is set to 0.03-0.15mum. The surface roughness Ra is 0.03-0.15mum but pref. 0.03-0.12mum, more pref. 0.004-0.8mum. When the surface roughness is below this range, the slip properties of the film after metal vapor deposition is bad because the film is too smooth and, when the surface roughness exceeds the range, the glossiness of the film after metal vapor deposition is inferior and gas barrier properties and moistureproof properties are inferior.
