Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a composite material which can be joined by welding or bolting to each other or other metallic member with high strength by coating the entire surface of a fiber-reinforced metal with a matrix metal to be compounded with the reinforcing fibers and a metal of the same type as said metal which is higher in m.p. than said metal. CONSTITUTION:Reinforcing fibers which are carbon fibers, etc. are wound around, for example, an Al cylinder 1 to form the assemblage 2 thereof and another cylinder 3 made of the same Al is put onto said assemblage. A disk 4 made of the same Al is fitted as a bottom plate thereto if necessary. Such superposed body is heated to a desired temp. and is put into a heated die 5. A melt of a matrix metal consisting of an Al alloy which is lower in m.p. than Al is poured into the die 5 and is pressurized by a plunger 7 to impregnate the melt 6 in the assemblage 2 and to cast the assemblage 2 together with the cylinders 1, 3 and the disc 4. A casting 8 including the fiber-reinforced metal 9 is thus obtd. The casting 8 can be welded or bolted without cutting the reinforcing fibers in exactly the same way as for general metallic materials.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermosetting resin solution composition, a color filter and a liquid crystal display apparatus excellent in dispersibility and stability of a pigment, good for thermostability, light resistance and the contrast ratio and excellent in a display characteristic with less dependence of a visual field angle. SOLUTION: A thermosetting resin solution composition comprises a polyamic acid obtained by reacting a tetracarboxylic acid dianhydride component with a diamine component in a polar solvent and a pigment. At least 50 mole % of the tetracarboxylic acid dianhydride component are an alicyclic tetracarboxylic acid dianhydride. A method of manufacturing such a thermosetting resin solution composition comprises dispersing the pigment in the above polyamic acid solution, or mixing the polyamic acid solution with a pigment- dispersing solution using a pigment as a main component dispersed in a lactone as a main silvent.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase the electric resistance while maintaining the high light- shielding properties of a light-shielding thin film containing a resin and specified particles coated with an insulating film by forming the light-shielding thin film so as to have specified or higher optical density and specified or higher electric resistance. SOLUTION: The light-shielding thin film contains a resin and titanium black TiNxOy (0 =2.5 optical density(OD) and >=1011 Ω.cm electric resistance. As for the method for producing the titanium black particles, for example, a method to heart a mixture of titanium dioxide and metal titanium in a reducing atmosphere to reduce the mixture can be used. As for the method for forming the insulating film on the surface of titanium black particles, for example, a method to treat the titanium black in an ethylalcohol solution of silicon teraethoxide can be used.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a black matrix having high reliability without causing peeling of films in the succeeding processes by forming a base layer comprising a polyimide resin of specified or more thickness between a light-transmitting substrate and the black matrix. CONSTITUTION:This color filter has a laminated black matrix having a light- shielding agent dispersed in a polyimide resin formed on a light-transmitting substrate. In this color filter, a base layer comprising a polyimide resin of >=10nm thickness is formed between the light-transmitting substrate and the black matrix. As for the light-transmitting substrate, inorg. glass such as borosilicate glass and soda lime glass coated with silica, or an org. plastic film or sheet is preferably used. The base layer has high adhesion strength with the light-transmitting substrate and has an effect to prevent contamination of the black matrix with a minute amt. of alkali metals or alkaline earth metals on the light-transmitting substrate. Therefore, adhesion property between the base layer and the black matrix can be improved.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To increase the yield in the process and to decrease the total cost even when defects are generated during forming a light shielding film of a color filter by removing only the light shielding film without damaging each picture elements of the color filter and again forming a light shielding film in the space among picture elements. CONSTITUTION:The color filter is produced by forming picture elements of plural colors on a transparent substrate and then forming a light shielding film among the picture elements. For regeneration, only the light shielding film is removed without damaging each picture elements of the color filter and then a light shielding film is formed among the picture elements. Practically, the color filter is preferably dipped in a peeling liquid. In this case, the peeling liquid used has such properties to dissolve or swell only the light shielding film without swelling picture elements, and for example, a single material of inorg. alkali, org. alkali or surfactant, or a mixture of these is used.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To permit extremely easy removal of a core when the core is cooled after production by arranging the innermost layer of an assemblage of reinforcing fibers in such a manner that the direction of the reinforcing fibers is in the peripheral direction of the core. CONSTITUTION:The assemblage 2 of the reinforcing fibers is disposed around the round bar-shaped core 1 in a metallic mold 3. The innermost layer 4 of the assemblage 2 is so arranged that the reinforced fibers are directed in the circumferential direction of the core. The reinforcing fiber layer 5 is arranged on the outside of the layer 4 according to applications, etc. A melt 6 of a metal to serve as a matrix is then poured into the mold 3 and is pressurized by a plunger 7 by which the molten metal is impregnated into the assemblage 2 and is solidified. The mold 3 and a base 8 are separated, upon solidification of the molten metal 6, and an FRM is taken out together with the core 1 from the mold 3. The core 3 is then removed. A difference in the coefft. of thermal expansion between the core 1 and the FRM in the radial direction is increased and the removal of the core 1 is facilitated.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To permit easy removal of a titled material from a metallic mold by interposing chloride of a metal between an assemblage of reinforcing fibers and the mold prior to pouring of a molten metal into the mold. CONSTITUTION:The assemblage 2 of the reinforcing fibers is put into a metallic pipe 4 and the pipe is disposed in the metallic mold 1. The powder or granular metal chloride 3 is packed between the mold 1 and the pipe 4. The melt 5 of the metal which is the matrix is poured into the pipe 4 and is pressurized by a plunger 6 by which the molten metal is impregnated into the assemblage 2 and is solidified therein. The solidified metal chloride 3 is eluted by water and a fiber reinforced metallic composite material FRM is taken together with the pipe 4 out of the mold 1 after the molten metal 5 solidifies, i.e., when the FRM is obtd. The pipe 4 is thereafter removed by cutting or stripping and the FRM is taken out. The removal of the FRM from the mold is thereby facilitated and even the long FRM is easily obtd.
