A power transmission system for a wind turbine comprises a gearbox and generator. The gearbox includes a gear-box housing and gearbox output member. The generator includes: a generator housing having a drive-end side and non-drive-end side, the drive-end side being coupled to the gearbox housing; a stator supported by the generator housing; a rotor coupled to the gearbox output member so as to be driven thereby; a non-drive-end shield coupled to the non-drive-end side of the generator housing; and at least one auxiliary drive mounted to the non-drive-end shield. The at least one auxiliary drive is configured to rotate the turning gear. A corresponding method of installing a wind farm including such a power transmission system is also provided.

An adaptive wind turbine generator (WTG) control system comprising a measurement system MS with sensors A1, A2, MC arranged to perform measurements of mechanical vibrations of one or more mechanical components of the WTG, at a plurality of operating conditions for the WTG. A storage unit SU stores, in a measurement database MD, measured data and corresponding operating condition OC data for the WTG. An operating condition manager OCM determines how to operate the WTG, including rotor speed PSC, according to a control algorithm in response to the data stored in the measurement database MD. Hereby, individual vibration measurements on critical components such as electric power generator and blades of the WTG can be taken into account in determining which rotor speed windows to avoid. This allow a more power efficient WTG, since a large safety margin around calculated or predetermined tabulated rotor speed windows can be avoided. Further, with a continuous update of the measurements, the control system can take into account variations in the vibration behaviour of the components over time.

A gearbox for a wind turbine. The gearbox includes at least one first epicyclical gear stage, at least one second gear stage, and a torque transferring shaft including a shaft part and a connection part, wherein the torque transferring shaft is adapted for connecting a first gear of the first epicyclical gear stage with a second gear of the second gear stage and wherein the torque transferring shaft is connected to the second gear stage via the connection part to form a torque-transferring connection area between the connection part and the second gear stage and wherein the outer diameter of the shaft part of the torque transferring shaft is smaller than an inner diameter of the connection area between said torque transferring shaft and said second gear stage.

An epicyclic gear stage for a wind turbine gearbox including a sun gear, at least two planet gears, engaged with the sun gear, an annulus gear, a first planet carrier flange connected to one side of at least two of the planet gears, and a second planet carrier flange connected to the other side of least two of the planet gears. Torque from the wind turbine rotor is transferred via a torque transfer part connected to at least one of the first and second planet carrier flanges at one or more torque transferring zones and the one or more torque transferring zones are located between a first and a second plane, the planes being substantially perpendicular to an axis of rotation of the sun gear.
