Abstract: A belt drive module and a corresponding method includes or employs a belt (10) that moves along a path, at least one support roller (12) or other structure that supports the belt as it moves along the path, a drive roller (11) that effects movement of the belt along the path, a tension roller (74) that applies a tension force to the belt in order to maintain engagement of the belt with the drive and/or support rollers, at least one processing station (e.g., an image processing station) disposed along the path that performs a process relative to a predetermined position of the belt, and a torque assist drive that applies a torque assist force (Td) at a location between the drive roller and the tension roller. Torque assist may be provided by a current limited DC motor or by a constant torque friction clutch applied to a roller (66), e.g., a stripper roller of an electrophotographic imaging system. Advantageously, the torque assist force (Td) facilitates accurate positioning of the belt (e.g., latent image registrations in a color imaging process employing multiple imaging processing stations) by reducing slippage between the drive roller and the belt that may be encountered due to belt wear, toner contamination and/or other debris.

Abstract: A variable sheet sized sheet feeder adapted to be reloaded while running in a dual tray mode. A dual tray sheet feeder having a sheet transport (121) to reload a stack of sheets from a holding station (104) to an active feed station (102) is provided. The dual tray design allows the holding station to be reloaded while the active tray is feeding thereby providing load while run capability. The feed tray is further provided with tray extensions (103) to allow the loading and feeding of oversized sheets within the same confines. Multiple sensors and movable stack guides (112,114) are provided to allow the transfer of the sheet stack from one tray to another and to report the status of each tray to the operator through a user interface.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photoconductive member which optimizes the length of a photoconductive belt and utilizes the length of the belt to the maximum to print a copy. SOLUTION: The photoconductive member 10 for use in a single pass multi-color printing machine includes an inter-seam zone 92 having a physical seam. The inter seam zone includes one (89) of a plurality of image-on-image registration marks. A plurality of interdocument zones 90 and 84 is also included on the photoconductive member wherein process control marks are formed. While the inter-seam zone is used for monitoring image-to-image registration, the process control marks are monitored to adjust the timing of the printing machine so that copy media synchronizes with an asynchronous placement of the images on the photoconductive member 10. SOLUTION: A belt driving module and a corresponding method include or adopt the belt moving along a path, at least one supporting roller or another structural body to support the belt when the belt is moved along the path, a driving roller to move the belt along the path, a tension roller to apply tensile force to the belt in order to maintain the coupling of the belt with the driving roller and/or the supporting roller, at least one processing station (for example, image processing station) arranged along the path in order to perform a process related to the specified position of the belt, and a torque supporting and driving part to apply torque supporting force Td at a position between the driving roller and the tension roller. The torque supporting force Td makes the exact positioning of the belt easy by reducing the slip between the driving roller and the belt.
