Abstract:
An adapter for a centrifuge tube (T) comprises two segments (12 and 14) that are hinged along a hinge axis that extends perpendicular to the axis of the adapter.
Abstract:
A rotor assembly (10) and method for processing liquids, especially whole blood. The assembly (10) includes a pivotable capillary (17-19) for separating non-liquid components of whole blood from liquid components, a diluent apparatus (13-15, 23) for supplying diluent to a sample in the mixing chamber (12) and a device (22, 25) for transferring the diluted and mixed sample for analysis. The rotor assembly employs removable capillaries (19, 21, 22, 23) to handle the sample and diluents.
Abstract:
A bucket (100) for a swinging bucket centrifuge rotor (10) includes a cylindrical body (104) having a pair of planar abutments (114A, 114B). The abutments (114A, 114B) are diametrically disposed on the body (104) with respect to the axis (100A) thereof. A slot (118A, 118B) is formed between a portion of each abutment (114A, 114B) and the body (104) of the bucket (100). Each abutment (114A, 114B) has a first groove (126) that extends parallel to the axis (100A) of the body (104) and a second groove (128) that extends perpendicular to the axis (100A) of the body (104). The first (126) and second (128) grooves communicate with the slot (118A, 118B) and with the slot (118A, 118B) define a resilient spring element (132) on each abutment (114A, 114B). A bottom support surface (124) on each abutment (114A, 114B) is cylindrical in shape, whereby a portion of each bottom support surface (124) lies on opposite sides of the axis (100A) of the body (104).
Abstract:
A holder (36) secures to the rotating processing chamber (18) of a centrifuge tubing (44) that conveys fluid to or from the chamber (18). The holder (36) is part of a carrier (38) that is connected by a pin (54) to a support (50) on the processing chamber (18). The support (50) has walls defining a cavity. The carrier (38) swings about the pin (54) on the support (50) between an opened position free of the cavity and a closed position captured within the cavity. In the opened position, the tube holder (36) is exposed for receiving tubing (44). In the closed position, the tubing (44) is retained within the cavity (52) in the tube holder (36). The tuber holder (36) allows straightforward attachment and removal of the tubing (44), always in a prescribed manner and with a single hand. The holder (36) securely retains the tubing (44) during use in a closed, protected envrironment, safeguarding it against inadvertent dislodgement, removal, or damage.
Abstract:
A device at centrifuges, for instance in medical care and research institute laboratories, including one handle (13) rotatable by means of a vertical driving shaft (12), on which sockets (16) for receiving centrifuge tubes through movable means (15) of cardanic type are movable, which sockets during the centrifugation are freely adjustable in direction of the resultant of the forces acting on each socket. The sockets (16) and thereby the centrifuge tubes (25) are arranged rotatably about their longitudinal axis during the action of acting forces of deceleration at retardation of centrifuge, which act on them. Each means (15) consists of two concentric rings (17, 19), a first inner ring (17), movable about two diametrically opposite radial pivots (18) provided in a second outer ring (19), which in turn is movable about two radial pivots (20), provided perpendicular to said former and mounted in said handle (13). One axial bearing (22) for supporting said socket (16) at said first inner ring (17) is provided.
Abstract:
A biohazard centrifuge (10) having an improved air cooling arrangement, wherein a cooling air stream is directed onto and around the rotor chamber (20) of the centrifuge (10) without introducing cooling air thereinto. This results in cooling air being separated from the spinning rotor (24) and reduces the possibility of contamination of the cooling air stream from a leaking sample container (60). Additionally, further protection to laboratory personnel is afforded by a sealed rotor assembly chamber (20), and by providing rotor assembly specimen containers or carriers (60) having lids (62) which are easily attached and removed, requiring a simple partial twist to lock the lids into place.
Abstract:
A centrifuge instrument (10) and a rotor (12) therefore which is loaded with sample container (T) automatically by gravity through an opening in a cover (52) located over a core (32) and subsequent to centrifugation, is unloaded automatically, again beneath the core. A sample container loading arrangement (72) is provided to hold a plurality of sample containers and to individually present sample containers to the rotor.
Abstract:
An adapter for a centrifuge tube (T) comprises two segments (12 )(14 ) that may be hinged along a hinge axis that extends perpendicular to the axis of the adapter.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a bottle (10) for holding a liquid sample during centrifugation in a centrifuge rotor (R) having a rotor cavity (H) that defines a predetermined angle of inclination beta with respect to the axis of rotation (AR). The bottle (10) comprises a body portion (12) having a neck portion (18) formed integrally therewith, an axis (20) through the neck defining a predetermined angle alpha with respect to an axis (16) of the body.
