Abstract:
Compositions containing an elastomer, particulate polytetrafluoroethylene and an amount of molybdenum disulfide effective to permit their manufacture. The particulate polyetrafluoroethylene may include amounts from 25 percent by weight to 80 percent by weight, and/or include small amounts of fibrillated polytetrafluoroethylene. Also disclosed are additives for such compositions, and methods for preparing such compositions and additives using polytetrafluoroethylene and molybdenum disulfide, and improved compositions and products.
Abstract:
A method of increasing the lubricity of snow skis is disclosed in which an effective amount of a non-functional perfluoropolyether is applied to the base of the snow skis. Preferably, the method includes application of a non-functional perfluoropolyether, where the perfluoropolyether is a liquid at room temperature, having a pour point below 5 DEG F, a boiling point greater than 200 DEG F, and an average molecular weight of from 1,000 to 15,000.
Abstract:
A process and apparatus for preventing smudging of indicia (12) printed on a surface of a piece of paper (10) by selective application of an amount of coating material (40) to lubricate the contact with surfaces abrading the printed indicia (12) or to provide physical separation from abrading surfaces, and thus prevent smearing. The coating material is preferably a Teflon micropowder (40) that is applied by dispensing controlled amounts through a plurality of apertures (42) adjacent the surface of a piece of paper (10) on which indicia (12) have just been printed by a non-impact printer such as a laser printer (14).
Abstract:
The foil has two essentially plane-parallel surfaces of which at least one possesses at least partly a metal coating. The metal coating is protected on its metal surface by a sliding film. In addition, the surface facing the metal-coated surface can be protected by a sliding film. The sliding film should possess a maximum constant thickness of 0,5 eta over the entire surface. The process for producing a protection for the foil which is provided at least on its surfaces with a metal coating is characterized by the fact that the metal coating is covered with a sliding film. The foil can however also be provided with a sliding film on the surface which faces away from the metal coating. The sliding film can be vaporized, rolled or sprayed on to the foil or be spread on to it by ultra-sound or electrostatically. Subsequently, the foil is wound on to a roll.
Abstract:
Composite material with two or a plurality of layers with a coating layer (5) which is applied directly on the rough surface (2) of a substrate and which comprises a lake base of polyimid and at least one finely spread additive in said base. Upon forming the coating layer (5) as a friction or sliding layer, such layer may contain about 99 to 60% by volume, preferably 90 to 80% by volume of thermo-setting polyimid lake and about 1 to 40% by volume, preferably 10 to 20% by volume of self-lubrication additives, particularly low molecular weight PTFE, with a grain size comprised between 5 and 7 (Alpha). For manufacturing said composite material, the powder additive is intimately mixed with the polyimid lake and homogenized until it becomes slightly viscous or pasty, deposited on the metal substrate and fixed thereto by sintering.
Abstract:
A textile fiber finish composition comprising: (a) from about 95 to about 99 % by weight of a lubricant component; and (b) from about 1 to about 5 % by weight of a boundary lubricant additive having the formula (I): R1-OOCCH2CH2-S-CH2CH2COO-R2 wherein R1 and R2 are each, independently, a C8-C18 alkyl group, all weights being based on the weight of the composition.
Abstract:
The invention concerns the application of a surface-treatment product in order to enable fluid, highly viscous, oily, greasy or pasty materials or dirt to slide more easily off surfaces which substantially have minimal roughness or are at least almost smooth. The surface-treatment product comprises at least one film-forming substance which renders surfaces water-repellent.
Abstract:
Improved non-stick coating systems can be applied to untreated smooth substrate with a primer of a polytetrafluoroethylene having a melt viscosity over 10 Pa Sec plus a copolymer of tetrafluoroethylene with hexafluoropropylene or perfluoro alkyl vinyl ether with the melt viscosity of the polytetrafluoroethylene being at least 10 Pa Sec higher than that of the copolymer to give a concentration gradient.
