A load bearing member ( 22 ) useful in an elevator system ( 10 ) includes at least one elongated tension member ( 36 ), a conversion coating ( 46 ) on the elongated tension member ( 36 ), and a polymer jacket ( 34 ) at least partially surrounding the coated elongated tension member ( 36 ). In one example, the conversion coating ( 46 ) includes at least one of an oxide, a phosphate, or a chromate.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wire rope with a high strength and longer useful life. SOLUTION: The wire rope 10 has an independent wire rope core 20 including individual core wires 22, wherein the individual core wires 22 are encapsulated in a tubular sheath of an elastomeric or a polymeric material with a core lubricant. A plurality of strands 30 are located adjacent to the individual core wires 22. Strand wires 32 are encapsulated in a tubular sheath of elastomeric or polymeric material that retain the lubrication for the individual strand wires 32. A core-encapsulating material 24 and a strand-encapsulating material 34 prevent direct metal-to-metal contact between the individual core wires 22 and the individual strand wires 32 and between the strand wires 32 of adjacent strands 30. The core encapsulating material 24 and the strand encapsulating material 34 are applied in a manner so as to avoid loss of the lubricant. Retaining lubrication and preventing direct metal-to-metal contact significantly improves the useful life of the wire rope. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an elevator driving mechanism capable of improving traction performance and wire of main rope, and saving a space in the elevator. SOLUTION: The elevator driving mechanism comprises the main rope 15 coupling a car of the elevator and a counterweight, a traction sheave 14 having an outer peripheral groove 14a with which the main rope 15 is engaged, and a winding machine 3 driving the traction sheave 14. The main rope 15 has a core steel 11 made of steel wire 11a, and a plurality of strands 12 made of steel wire 12a. Abstract:
The object of the invention is a traction sheave elevator and a rope that contains metal as a load-bearing material, such as the suspension rope of an elevator, which rope comprises at least one or more strands laid from metal wires and which rope is lubricated with a lubricant. Another object is the use of the aforementioned lubricant for lubricating the rope. The lubricant comprises at least oil and thickener, which thickener in the lubricant comprises at least 10% or more of the mass of the lubricant.
