Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steel cord for reinforcing a rubber article, having a 1×N-structured flat structure consisting of 6 to 15 steel cord wires and without generating twist disturbance, and a method for producing the same. SOLUTION: This steel cord 1 for reinforcing the rubber article, comprising the 6 to 15 steel cord wires 2 is provided by having an organic fiber cord 3 of which diameter (D) satisfies the relationship expressed by the formula in the figure inside the steel cord 1 for reinforcing the rubber article where the diameter of the steel cord wire is taken as (d)(mm), and also subjecting the cord to a flattening process by a straightener roll after twisting the organic fiber cord 3 with the steel cord wires 2 to form the cross sectional shape of an ellipse having 0.4 to 0.8 flat ratio (A/B) expressed by a shorter diameter A and longer diameter B. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a steel cord for rubber articles, capable of adjusting the flatness of the steel cord cross-section over a wide range and sufficiently correcting the straightness of the steel cord and to provide a flattening apparatus for the production. SOLUTION: A flat roller group 24X consisting of three flat rollers 24A is placed at the inlet side P of a steel cord 10 to apply repeated bending to the steel cord 10 and flatten the cross-section of the steel cord 10, and a fluted roller group 24Y consisting of six fluted rollers 24B is placed at the outlet side Q after the flattening stage to correct the straightness of the flattened steel cord 10 and make possible separate adjustment of the biting ratio of the flat roller 24A and the biting ratio of the fluted roller 24B. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steel cord for reinforcing a rubber article, which is free from breakage and disordered twisting. SOLUTION: The steel cord is produced using such a tubular-type strander as described below: In a molding device 36, molding shafts 42 for sheath wires are set up in a zigzag manner, and the following relationship: 1.5×10 -2 ≤(c-2a)/b 2 ≤5.0×10 -2 is satisfied, wherein (a) is the distance from the plane centerline CL to the axial center of each of the forming shafts 42; b is the distance between the respective centers of the adjoining forming shafts 42 measured along the plane centerline CL; and c is the diameter of each of the forming shafts 42. Thereby, the objective steel cord 26 free from breakage and stably twisted is obtained. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steel cord for reinforcing rubber, while securing a sufficient bonding property between the cord and rubber, avoiding the contact of a core element wire with side element wires and also enabling the suppression of dimensional change, and a pneumatic radial tire by using the same. SOLUTION: This steel cord 10 used for a belt layer 6 is provided by arranging with twisting the 5 pieces of side element wires 12 having the same wire diameter with the core element wire 11 at the outside of the single core element wire 11 treated with spiral forming, having a flat structure that each of circumscribed circle C11 of the core element wire and circumscribed circle C12 of the side element wires forms an elliptical shape and having 1.1≤D1/Ds≤2.0 range ratio of the longer diameter D1 of the circumscribed circle C12 of the side element wires to the shorter diameter Ds of the same. The twist direction of the core element wire 11 is the same direction of the twisting direction of the side element wires 12, the twist pitch P12 of the side element wires 12 is substantially 5 times of the magnitude of forming pitch 11 of the core element wire 11 and the central point O of the core element wire 11 is on an elliptic orbit CO having substantially 1/5 times diameter dimension to the diameter dimension of the circumscribe circle C12 of the side element wires 12. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently produce a steel cord providing higher durability. SOLUTION: A tension of 0.5-5.0 kg is applied to one steel core wire 14 and a lubricant in an amount of 10-500 mg per kg of the two core wires 14 is applied thereto to twist 5-7 sheath wires together by a strander body 20. Thereby, dispersion of the surface conditions in the longitudinal direction of the core wires can be absorbed and the core wires can smoothly be passed through guides installed in the interior of the strander body 20 with good lubricity. Thereby, the tension when twisting the sheath wires together is stabilized. Twisting properties can be stabilized and wire breakage can be suppressed. Since the twisting properties of the resultant steel cord 26 are stabilized without wire breakage, the high durability can be afforded by using the steel cord in a belt-reinforcing material of a pneumatic tire.
