    Abstract: Cyclic lactams are prepared by reacting an aminocarboxylic acid compound of the formula I H2N-(CH2)m-COR1 I where R1 is -OH, -O-C1-C12-alkyl or -NR2R3 and R2 and R3, independently of one another, are each hydrogen, C1-C12-alkyl or C5-C8-cycloalkyl and m is an integer from 3 to 12, with water by a process in which the reaction is carried out in the liquid phase using a heterogeneous catalyst.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the subject compound useful for synthetic intermediate of nylon in short reaction time, without necessity of neutralization, without corrosiveness of stainless vessel, in high purification and high yield by reacting aniline derivative and lactone derivative using specific acid catalyst. CONSTITUTION:An aniline derivative expressed by formula I (R , R is H, 1-8C alkyl, alkoxy, dialkylamino, alkylamino, arylamino or halogen) is reacted with a lactone derivative expressed by formula II (R is H, 1-9C alkyl; n is 2-13), preferably using 0.5-3.0mol compound expressed by formula I to 1mol compound expressed by formula II at 50-300 deg.C, especially 100-250 deg.C using phosphoric acid and/or phosphate (e.g., phosphoric acid, polyphosphoric acid or sodium hydrogen phosphate) as acid catalyst to obtain a compound expressed by formula III. Besides, amount of use of the acid catalyst is preferably in a range of 0.001-1.0mol, especially 0.01-0.5mol to 1mol of compound expressed by formula II.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To produce phyrrolidone in a high yield by preparing a catalyst compsn. for production of five-membered nitrogen-contg. satd. heterocyclic compds. consisting of oxide complexes of, such as Ni, Co, Rh, Pd and Pt expressed by specific general formula. CONSTITUTION: The catalyst compsn. for production of the five-membered nitrogen-contg. satd. heterocyclic compds. is prepd. by the oxide complexes expressed by formula I (A denotes Ni, Co or its mixture; D denotes Rh, Pd, Os, Ir, Pt, Zn and their mixtures; a, c, d denote 0.01 to 1, b denotes 0 to 1, x denotes the oxygen number necessary for satisfying the valency requirement of the other elements existing in the catalyst). This catalyst compsn. can be prepd. more specifically by the decomposition of decomposable salts like nitrate, acetate, halide and/or oxide. The catalyst is effective in both calcined and uncalcined states.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the titled compound useful as an intermediate raw material for organic syntheses, under mild condition in high yield, suppressing the deterioration of catalyst, by using a cyclic imide having high thermal stability as a raw material and hydrogenating the compound in gaseous phase in the presence of a specific catalyst containing copper as essential component. CONSTITUTION:A cyclic dicarboxylic acid imide or its precursor is used as a raw material and is subjected to vapor-phase hydrogenation at 200-300 deg.C under normal or slightly positive pressure in the presence of a catalyst containing copper as an essential component. The reaction is carried out by carrying the evaporated raw material compound directly with hydrogen gas stream and introducing the compound into a catalyst layer. The cyclic dicarboxylic acid imide is preferably succinimide, maleimide, etc. The catalyst is preferably those composed mainly of a compound oxide consisting of copper and chromium and/or zinc and the content of copper in the catalyst is preferably about 5-85%.
