Abstract:
2-Phenyl-alk-1-enyl-cyclopropane-carboxylic acid esters of the formula ##STR1## in which R each independently ishydrogen, halogen, cyano, nitro and, in each case optionally halogen-substituted, alkyl, alkoxy, alkylenedioxy or alkylthio,R.sup.1 is optionally halogen-substituted alkyk, andR.sup.2 is a radical customary in the alcohol part of pyrethroidswhich exhibit insecticidal and acaricidal activity. They are made from the corresponding alkyl esters which are new and made by novel processes.
Abstract:
3,3-Dimethyl-1-phenoxy-butan-2-ols of the formula ##STR1## in which Y is a halogen atom, an optionally substituted phenyl radical, an optionally substituted phenoxy radical or a nitro, cyano, alkyl, alkoxy, alkoxycarbonyl or cycloalkyl radical, and n is 0, 1, 2 or 3,exhibit plant growth stimulating properties and are also useful in the synthesis of known fungicides. They are produced from tert-butyloxirane and the corresponding phenols.
Abstract:
Process for the preparation of the mononitro derivatives substituted in positions 5 or 6 of 1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-anthraquinone, which comprises nitrating 1,2,3,4,4a,9a-hexahydro-9,10-anthracene-dione by means of nitric acid or a mixture of nitric acid and sulfuric acid.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a process for the preparation of nitrated aromatic compounds by the mixed acid process, in which water is removed from the reaction mass by passing an inert gas through it.
Abstract:
This invention provides a convenient and commercially adaptable process for the preparation of vinylcyclopropane derivatives in high yield. For the process an alkylating agent and activated methylene compound are reacted in the presence of an alkylene oxide derivative and alkali metal compound. Water can also be present and/or the reaction may be carried out in an inert organic diluent.
Abstract:
A process is described for preparing benzophenone derivatives of a high purity in an extremely high yield from 3-phenylphthalide derivatives with the use of at least one oxidizing agent.
Abstract:
A method of preparing substituted acylbenzenes is disclosed. The method comprises reacting selected acylhalides or equivalents with a selected poly-substituted benzene in the presence of an acylating catalyst comprising a clay.
Abstract:
5-Substituted indan-2-carboxylic acids and functional derivatives thereof having inflammation-reducing properties have the general formula ##STR1## in which R is a phenyl, phenyl-lower alkenyl, phenyl-lower alkyl, phenyl substituted by at least one of the halogens, lower alkyl, lower alkoxy, acetamido, amino, lower dialkylamino, nitro, phenyl, lower alkylsulfonyl, lower dialkylaminosulfonyl and sulfamido, cyclohexyl, furyl, lower alkylfuryl, thienyl, halothienyl, lower alkylthienyl, or pyridyl group and R' is a hydroxyl, lower alkoxy, lower dialkylaminoalkoxy, cinnamoylamido lower alkoxy, 2-hydroxyethylamino, amino or lower dialkylaminoalkyl amino group. Besides the esters and amides, the functional derivatives of the acids include the pharmacologically acceptable salts of the above compounds. The compounds are also of low toxicity, have analgesic activity and exert an antipyretic effect.
Abstract:
A novel process for the preparation of a hydroxyphenyl ether compound of the formula ##STR1## in which R represents a radical of the formula ##STR2## wherein R.sup.1, R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 are independently selected from hydrogen, halogen, haloalkyl, nitro or cyano; orR represents a heterocyclic radical which optionally carries one or more substituents selected from halogen, halogenoalkyl, alkoxy, nitro and cyano and which can contain an optionally substituted fused benzene ring, which process comprises reacting a halogen compound of the formulaR--Hal (II)in whichR is defined as above, andHal is fluorine, chlorine or bromine, with a dihydroxybenzene of the formula ##STR3## in the presence of calcium hydroxide and in the presence of a polar diluent, at a temperature of from 20.degree. C. to 200.degree. C.
Abstract:
