Abstract:
A hinge device increases an open angle of a second member relative to a first member without enlarging the hinge device. A first pulley is fixed to a first mounting member mounted on the first member. A second pulley is fixed to a second mounting member mounted on the second member. A timing belt runs between the first and second pulleys. One end of a connecting member that connects the first mounting member to the second connecting member connects rotatably to an axis part of the first mounting member, with the opposite end connected rotatably to an axis part of the second mounting member. Pins to that abut to the outside of the timing belt are provided such that the width between one side and the opposite side of the timing belt becomes smaller than the diameter of at least one of the first pulley and the second pulley.
Abstract:
A system having an adjustable pivot length assist mechanism for a cover or door of an enclosure. Adjusting lengths of a link may change a differential ratio of mechanical advantage in that a small change in the force transfer link length yields a large change in the gas spring load for a given force at the other end of the link. The mechanism may utilize one or more gas springs. One end of a spring may be connected to a bellcrank rotatable on a shaft attached to a portion of a hinge secured to the enclosure. Another portion of the hinge may be attached to and support the door relative to the enclosure. Attached to another location on the bellcrank may be a force transfer link connected to a lever attached to a door portion of the hinge. The force transfer link may have a length adjustment. At least one end of each of the one or more gas springs may have two-dimensional movement.
Abstract:
A door operator for controlling operation of a door, the door operator having a motor to open the door against a spring force, the door operator further comprising a door position sensor for transmitting a signal indicative of door position; and among other things, calculates a door moment of inertia based on a net torque and the time for the door to reach a predetermined angle from the closed position. Also provided is a door operator that compares door speed to a desired door speed based on a door speed-position profile and generates a door speed error signal and minimizes the door speed error signal by adjusting the braking load resulting from charging a chargeable battery using the motor as a generator.
Abstract:
A device for ejecting a movable furniture part from a closed end position in or on a furniture body, includes an ejector with a motor-driven ejector lever. A power transmission device interacting with the ejector lever is provided such that the force exerted on the movable furniture part by the ejector lever can be transferred in the mounted state of the device in a furniture body, in which the movable furniture part in the closed end position is at a distance from the ejector lever.
Abstract:
A vehicle rear door unsequenced articulating mechanism including one or more articulating hinge assemblies having one or more hinge arms pivotally mounted to a vehicle C-pillar at one end thereof via a C-pillar hinge mount and pivotally mounted to a vehicle rear door at another end thereof via a door hinge mount. The hinge arm may include a generally J-shaped profile between the ends thereof for permitting unsequenced articulation of the rear door up to approximately 180° from a rear door closed position. The door hinge mount may include a door stop engageable with a stop surface on the hinge arm for limiting pivotal movement of the vehicle rear door.
Abstract:
An opening/closing device for a double flap door of an item of furniture, wherein the top part and the bottom part of the door are not hinged to each other. The device is connected to the furniture item to cause the top part of the door to rotate with respect to the furniture item and an articulated quadrilateral causes the bottom part of the door to rotate with respect to the top part concomitantly with the rotation of the top part of the door with respect to the furniture item. The articulated quadrilateral includes a first and a second arm each having one end hinged to the bottom part of the door and the other end hinged to the device.
Abstract:
A hinge for wings or doors, in particular of electrical appliances, having a first element, a second element and a rocker lever for connecting the first and second elements; the lever pivots on the second element and has a first arm integral with the first element to render the first and second elements movable relative to one another with a tilting action between a closed position and an open position; the second element consisting of a substantially box-shaped body containing both elastic parts, inserted between the second element and a second arm of the lever to apply an elastic action on the lever, and a damping device, for applying a damping action on the lever during the reciprocal motion of the first and second elements, when the closed position is almost reached.
Abstract:
A mechanical rate control device for mechanically dampening a telescoping hold open rod including an outer tube, an inner tube concentrically displaced within the outer tube. The inner tube includes a head portion and at least two friction pads surrounding the inner tube. Each of the at least two friction pads includes an internal surface which substantially complements an external surface of the inner tube.
Abstract:
A folding panel assembly includes at least first and second, substantially rectangular panels, the first panel having first and second vertical ends, and the second panel having third and fourth vertical ends, the second and third vertical ends being hinged to one another about a hinge axis parallel thereto. An actuating system includes a substantially horizontal track, with a first pivot support for connection to the first panel, a carriage traversable along the track, with a second pivot support for connection to the second panel. The actuating system further includes a flexible drive element arranged parallel to the track and engaging the carriage for traversing it along the track. The actuating system employs an elongated connecting rod with a first longitudinal end pivotally connected to the carriage and a second, opposite longitudinal end pivotally connected to the first panel at a location adjacent to the second vertical end thereof. A line including the first and second longitudinal ends of the elongated connecting rod, in use, is excluded from becoming aligned with respect to the first panel in any position of the carriage along the track.
Abstract:
A vehicle tailgate lift assist support structure is provided with a rear end structure, a tailgate pivotally coupled to the rear end structure, and a lift assist device connected between the rear end structure and the tailgate. The rear end structure includes a first wall, a hinge plate having a plate portion disposed on an inboard side of the first wall portion and a pivot bearing sleeve extending from the plate portion through an opening of the first wall, and a nut plate disposed on an outboard side of the first wall and coupled to the hinge plate. A bellcrank arm is provided that has a first end attached to the tailgate and a second end offset from a tailgate pivot axis. The first end extends through the pivot bearing sleeve. The lift assist device dampens the tailgate during opening and applies a closing torque to the tailgate during closing.
