Aviation fuel formulations receive many benefits when a manganese-containing additive is incorporated in that composition. However, to the extent that the use of a manganese-containing compound may result in the formation of engine deposits during combustion, it is beneficial to further provide a scavenger compound to the fuel composition. This scavenger compound may include a phosphorus-containing compound, an organobromide compounds, and/or a tricarbonyl compound.

Method of marking a hydrocarbon liquid includes adding to the liquid, a tracer compound of Formula I or II: wherein at least one of R1-R6 in Formula I and at least one of R7-R14 in Formula II is selected from: i. a bromine or fluorine atom; ii. a partially or fully halogenated alkyl group; iii. a branched or cyclic C4-C20 alkyl group; iv. an aliphatic substituent linking two positions selected from R1-R6 in Formula I to one another or two positions selected from R7-R14 in Formula II to one another; or v. a phenyl group substituted with a halogen atom, an aliphatic group or halogenated aliphatic group and none of R1-R6 and none of R7-R14 being a sulphonate group or COOR15, where R15 represents H, C1-C20 alkyl, C2-C20 alkenyl, C2-C20 alkynyl, C3-C15 cycloalkyl or aryl.

The invention relates to tropospheric volume elements enriched with vital elements and/or protective substances and to a method for their production and use. The vital elements cover those substances that promote the development of living components of the terrestrial biosphere and the protective substances cover those substances that directly or indirectly help to prevent harmful effects on the terrestrial biosphere and in particular on mankind. The inventive tropospheric volume elements are enriched with vital elements and/or protective substances. Tropospheric volume elements in the form of polluted clouds, which can escape as a result of damage to installations, are enriched with protective substances, which prevent the absorption of radioactive elements by an organism, minimise the extent of the areas polluted by the cloud and in addition exhibit warning and identification functions. The enriched tropospheric volume elements can have numerous positive effects, the most important being: climate cooling and stabilisation, increase in food production, production of methane hydrate and kerogen as renewable energy sources, reduction of atmospheric pollution, increase in precipitation, reduction of the damage and number of victims, caused in particular by nuclear reactor accidents.

The fuel comprises a composition comprising an iron complex and a tetraalkyl lead compound, characterised in that the concentration of elemental lead is from about 0.01g/litre to about 0.2g/litre and the concentration of elemental iron is from about 1 ppm to less than 30 ppm.
