Abstract:
Novel 9-substituted phenyl- or cyclohex-1-en-1-yl-3,7-dimethyl-nona-2,4,6-trienoic acids or derivatives thereof, -trienal or -trienol derivatives are described. The subject compounds are useful in the treatment of certain dermatoses and inflammatory and allergic dermatological conditions.
Abstract:
Process for the manufacture of pure 1-nitroanthraquinone, characterised in that a nitroanthraquinone mixture obtained by nitration of anthraquinone in the presence of inorganic acids and, optionally, lowering the molar fraction of the acids in the reaction mixture after isolation of the reaction products which have precipitated and, optionally, further measures, is subjected to a rectification.
Abstract:
A process for the mononitration of benzene wherein the nitration is carried out at temperatures of at least 120*C. in mixed HNO3H2SO4 and excess water is carried overhead as an azeotrope with part of the benzene and is then decanted from the benzene. The heat of nitration can be used to vaporize the azeotrope. The nitrated benzene product is removed as bottoms and decanted from the acid phase. This avoids the necessity of reconcentratingn the H2SO4.
Abstract:
A process for selectively converting n-paraffins to secondary alkyl primary amines where byproduct formation is substantially reduced which comprises contacting the n-paraffin in a plurality of reaction zones with a nitrating agent, removing gaseous reaction products and water from the liquid products of each of the reaction zones and introducing nitrating agent along with liquid product from the preceding zone into each succeeding reaction zone, thereby effecting an overall conversion to nitroparaffin not exceeding 25 weight percent of the n-paraffin, and thereafter hydrogenating the nitroparaffin to the amine.
Abstract:
omega -Nitrocarboxylate salts are prepared by nitrooxidation of a cycloalkene, cycloalkadiene or a cycloalkatriene, with a mixture of oxygen and nitrogen dioxide. The reaction product is extracted with an alkaline solution to obtain the alkali salt of Alpha -nitrocycloalkanone, Alpha -nitrocycloalkenone or Alpha -nitrocycloalkadienone which is converted to the corresponding omega -nitrocarboxylate salt.
Abstract:
New substituted indenyl acetaldehydes, having anti-inflammatory, anti-pyretic and analgesic activity. Also included herein are methods of preparing said indenyl acetaldehydes, pharmaceutical compositions having said indenyl acetaldehydes as an active ingredient and methods of treating inflammation by administering these particular compositions to patients.
Abstract:
WHEREIN X is NH2 or OH, A is an aromatic, heteroaromatic or hydroaromatic ring or an optionally activated double bond and R1, R2 or R3 are hydrogen atoms or a substituent, are produced by treating a cyclic dicarboxylic acid imide, preferably of the formula
WHEREIN R1, R2, R3 and A have the values given above, with a Friedel-Crafts catalyst in the presence of a
GROUP, AND THEN HYDROLYZING THE THUS-PRODUCED OXOCARBOXYLIC ACID AMIDES (X NH2) to the corresponding free acids (X OH). Oxocarboxylic acid amides and oxocarboxylic acids, e.g., of the formula
Abstract:
New substituted tetrahydrofluorene acids, trimethano indenes, their esters, amides and salts and intermediates therefore, which have anti-inflammatory, anti-pyretic and analgesic activity. Also included are methods of preparing said tetrahydrofluorene and indene compounds, pharmaceutical compositions having said compounds as an active ingredient and methods of treating inflammation by administration of said compounds.
