Abstract:
Phenylformamidines (I), useful as insecticides and plant growth regulator, were prepd. by reaction of compd. II with compd. III in the presence of acid coupling agent. In above compd. I.II. and III, acid coupling agent. In above compd. I.II. and III, R1= Me, Et, R2 =H, CI, Br, or C1-C4 alkyl, R3 = H, Me, Et, Cl, Br, CF3, CN, X = halogen, m, n = integer 1,2 or 3, R2, R3 = the same or different according to m and n.

Ten 2,6-MeRC6H3N(C OCH2R1)CHMeCO2 (I; R, R2 = Me or Et, R1 = Br, Cl, F, or iodo) used as fungicides and useful as heribicides, were prepd. by reaction of 2,6-MeRC6H3NH2with BrCHMeCO2R2in the presence of NaHCO3 to give 2,6-MeRC6H3NHCHMeCO2R2 and subsequent reaction with R1CH2COC1.

The title compd. (I; A = unsubstituted ethylene chain, Et mono substituted or Me mono(or di)-substituted ethylene chain, R = Me, Et, n-Pr, or iso-Pr or allyl or methylallyl, crotyl, cyclopropyl or cyclopropylmethyl), useful as plant growth regulator and selective heribicides, were prepd. by the reaction of N-substituted aniline(II) with chloroacetylchloride, special reference to chloroacetylchloride, special reference to chloroacetic acid anhydride or halide.
