Apparatus, methods and articles of manufacture are disclosed for modifying electromagnetic waves by reducing noise in those waves. A transfer function for a plurality of segments is derived through identifying a desired output parameter. That transfer function is then applied, via a plurality of filters or other devices, to a wave, in order to achieve said transfer function.

Apparatus, method and article of manufacture are shown for linear signal modification. An input signal is modified by providing one or more non-linear current sources and regulating at least one of the one or more current sources to output a signal based on one or more of the input signal characteristics. The modification of the output signal includes both amplification and attenuation.

An apparatus for electromagnetic processing comprises a modulator for generating one or more elements representative of an input signal; a divider controlled by the one or more elements and receiving an electromagnetic wave to generate a modified signal; a comparator for comparing the modified signal to a reference signal and for generating a processed signal based upon the comparison; and a channel number calculator for selecting a channel for the processed signal, wherein the input signal incorporates the channel selection.

A planar MESFET transistor includes a plurality of FET elements (1) including a doped planar channel (351), and source (301) and drain (302) coupled to the ends of the channel (351). A gate conductor (51) extends over a portion of the channel (351) at a location lying between the source (301) and drain (302), a first predetermined distance (L1) from the drain. A field plate (240) is connected to the gate conductor (51), extends toward the drain (302)a second predetermined distance (L2), and is isolated from the channel (351) except at its gate conductor connection by a dielectric material (340).
Abstract:
A precision signal delay apparatus and method for introducing time delay to a signal. Precision delay is introduced by a pair of delay locked loops (DLLs) connected in series each with selectable delay (i.e., a Vernier-type circuit). Nonumformity in the precision delay is compensated with a delay compensation circuit. The apparatus and method may be used for phase shifting, data delay, precision pulse width modulation, and precision time windowing.

In accordance with the present invention, a quadrature hybrid circuit is provided comprising a first spiral inductor and a second spiral inductor separated by an insulating layer to provide all necessary capacitances intrinsically. Further, a vector modulator circuit is provided that incorporates a plurality of quadrature hybrid circuits on a MMIC contained within a chip scale package.

A ferrite phase shifter includes a waveguide having a first cylinder and a second cylinder, the radius of the second cylinder being less than the radius of the first cylinder. The second cylinder is disposed within the first cylinder such than the two cylinders have a common axis symmetry. The waveguide includes a first septum formed as a disk and disposed within the second cylinder. The disk has a pie-shaped aperture formed therethrough and is centrally disposed within the second cylinder so that the two cylinders and the disk share the same axis of symmetry. The second cylinder has a opening formed therethrough that is aligned with the pie-shaped aperture. The waveguide further includes a second septum that extends from the first cylinder to the disk center while bisecting the pie-shaped aperture.

An electric component package (200) having a base (206) and a lid (208), the base and lid defining a hermetically sealed cavity (204) therebetween for accommodating an electric component (202) . The base (206) includes at least one conductive via (210) extending therethrough, allowing control and/or input/output (I/O) ports associated with the electric component (202) to be coupled to the conducive vias (210) to pass signals between the sealed cavity (204) and the exterior of the package without passing through the junction between the base (206) and lid (208). The electric component package (200) can be produced at the wafer level using conventional silicon wafer integrated circuit manufacturing machinery prior to separating the wafer into a plurality of devices.
