Abstract: A liquid crystal display is provided to display an image by an appropriate color balance by reducing a rate of a white sub-pixel. A liquid crystal display device includes gate lines(10). Data lines(20) cross the gate lines, insulated from the gate lines. A plurality of thin film transistors(30) are formed at crossing points of the gate lines and the data lines. A pixel area has red, green, blue, and white sub-pixels(51,53,55,57) connected with the plurality of thin film transistors and arranged in a 2Î2 matrix form. An area of one of the red, green, and blue sub-pixels and an area of the white sub-pixel are smaller than about 25% of an area of the pixel area.
