Abstract: A method for changing a numerical value and a video apparatus applying the same are provided to increase or decrease the numerical value of a specific item according to a direction in which a user moves a remote controller, thereby enabling the user to change numerical values of items such as a broadcasting channel number and volume continuously. A method for changing a numerical value comprises the following steps of: checking whether a channel button is pressed long(S310); displaying a broadcasting channel number on a display(S320); checking whether the front of a remote controller moves in an upper direction(S330); increasing the broadcasting channel number continuously and displaying the continuously increased broadcasting channel number on the display(S340); checking whether a distance that the front of the remote controller moves in the upper direction exceeds a preset reference distance(S350); accelerating a rate at which the broadcasting channel number increases(S360); checking whether the front of the remote controller moves in a lower direction(S370); decreasing the broadcasting channel number continuously and displaying the continuously decreased broadcasting channel number on the display(S380); checking whether a distance that the front of the remote controller moves in the lower direction exceeds a preset reference distance(S390); and accelerating a rate at which the broadcasting channel number decreases(S400).

Abstract: A display device, an image processing device, and a method for controlling the same are provided to allow a user to select a menu item with speed based on the size control of the menu item. An image processing device includes a UI creator(110), a user command input module(130), and a controller(140). The UI generator(110) makes a user interface(UI) including at least one menu item which is displayed in a predetermined size and used to select an operation. The user command input module(130) inputs a user command which indicates the adjustment of the size of the menu item.
