PURPOSE: An adaptive transmission method of hierarchical contents for unicast transmission and multicast transmission by selecting a transmission mode according to a transmission state of a terminal is provided to reduce the load of the communication network by maximizing the data transmission rate of a basic transmission group. CONSTITUTION: A transmission server receives transmission state information from a terminal(302). The transmission server determines a transmission policy according to the transmission state information(304). The transmission server transmits a basic transmission group of hierarchical contents. The transmission server transmits the basic transmission group of the hierarchical contents to the terminals(306). The transmission server transmits a transmission group to the terminal(308).

PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for estimating channel capacity between terminals are provided to estimate the capacity of a channel using a data packet without using an additional packet for estimating the capacity of a channel. CONSTITUTION: A channel capacity average configuration unit(203) obtains the average value of channel capacities by the size of a data packet of data packets of different sizes. A linear model configuration unit(213) obtains a linear model of the channel capacity of a data packet using the average of the channel capacities. A channel capacity estimating unit(215) estimates the channel capacity of a data packet using the linear model. The linear model configuration unit generates the linear model of the channel capacity according to the size of the data packet using the average value and the real channel capacity of the data packets.

PURPOSE: A scalable video decoder utilizing a property of single loop decoding mode and controlling method thereof are provided to run an image enlargement calculation with macro block information and a neighboring task part of the lower layer, after an encoding of a lower layer, if texture or residual is needed in a higher layer encoding so reducing a necessary memory usage. CONSTITUTION: A macro block mode decision unit(110) determines the macro block mode of the higher layer when decrypting the scalable image. When the macroblock mode of the higher layer is an inter-layer reference mode. An enlargement operation unit(120) magnifies the texture by using the correspondence macro block data and a neighboring pixel information of the lower layer. Or the enlargement operation unit enlarges the residual by using a macro block information of a lower layer. A decoder unit(130) decodes the higher layer by using the texture or the residual enlargement.

PURPOSE: A conversion apparatus is provided to rewrite an MGS(Medium Grained Scalability) based SVC(Scalable Video Coding) bit stream into an AVC(Advanced Video Coding) bit stream. CONSTITUTION: An extracting unit an MGS layer of a key picture included in an MGS based SVC bit stream. A generating unit(813) creates the residual signal by adding one or more MGS layers of the key picture through a CGS-to-AVC rewriter. A computing unit(814) computes the corrected residual signal about the key picture based on the difference between the residual signal and DCD(Drift-Compensating Data). A bit stream coding unit(815) creates bit stream of single layer based on predicted data and the corrected residual signal.

A device and a method for generally extracting FGS(Fine Granular Scalability) from SVC(Scalable Video Coding) video with user preference are provided to supply an SVC bit stream having the FGS data according to a consumption environment. An R(Rate)-D(Distortion) data extractor(110) extracts R-D data of more than one space layer by analyzing a bit stream. A user preference collector(120) collects user preference for each space layer. A determination engine(130) determines an optimal bit rate for each space layer by using the bit rate and the user preference. An evolutionary WDM/TDM hybrid PON apparatus is provided to expand capacitance and improve the quality of a service by using an RN of a WS-PS structure and ONT of RSOA method and by using a T-LD as a seed light source. An optical circuit terminal comprises a T-LD(Tunable laser diodes)(201) transmitting a downstream signal, a wavelength coupler(202) which multiplexes the wavelength and downloads it, and an optical receiver(203,204) of an expansion type wavelength distribution structure, which provides the connection for an upper level switch port and expands and distributes the multiplexed wavelengths outputted from the wavelength coupler. A control part(210) controls a target device according to a stored control program and a control parameter. A conversion part(220) converts the two wire series-type external signal for correcting the control program and adjusting the control parameter from an external host into the inner signal for setting or investigating the state values of the input-output pins for connecting each inner circuit of the target device. An inner interface part(230) approaches directly the inner circuit according to the command included in the converted inner signal, and sets and investigates the state values of the input-output pins. The target device is an optical transceiver. The control program performs a digital diagnostic monitoring control function defined in the SFF(Small Form Factor)-8472 standard.
