Abstract: Provided is a technology about a system for controlling electronic devices inside a vehicle linked to a gear mode and a method thereof. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the method for controlling electronic devices inside a vehicle linked to a gear mode includes: a step of identifying the current gear mode of a vehicle; a step of receiving selection data of an electronic device inside the vehicle to use a function for recognizing the hand gesture of a passenger; a step of determining if the function for recognizing the hand gesture of the passenger is available in order to run the selected electronic device inside the vehicle according to the received electronic device selection data in the identified current gear mode; a step of recognizing the hand gesture of the passenger from an input signal of a sensor if the function for recognizing the hand gesture of the passenger is available; and a step of generating a signal for running the selected electronic device inside the vehicle corresponding to the recognized hand gesture of the passenger. The present invention is able to guarantee convenience and safety of a passenger by operating an electronic device inside a vehicle using a hand gesture of the passenger selectively according to the current gear mode of the vehicle.
