Abstract: An apparatus for controlling an opening angle of a vehicle tailgate is provided to move the tailgate from a first opening position to a second opening position by pulling a cable to release a holder from a pawl having a stopper protrusion engaged with a protrusion of the holder. An apparatus for controlling an opening angle of a vehicle tailgate comprises a checker arm, a checker arm holding unit(10), and a pawl(30). The check arm is slidable into the rear inside of a vehicle body, provided with a pin at the outer end and a stopper at the inner end. The checker arm holding unit clamps the pin of the checker arm and has a groove(12) and a holder(20). The groove is formed to receive the pin of the checker arm. The holder retains the pin of the checker arm inside the groove. The checker arm holding unit is fixed to the tailgate. The pawl, which is located in the checker arm holding unit, fixes the holder at a first opening position and moves the holder to a second opening position from the first opening position by releasing the holder with a cable(40). The pawl is rotative around a pin(32) inside the checker arm holding unit and has a stopper protrusion(34) interlocking with a protrusion(22) of the holder. A torsion spring(36) is provided to the pin.
