    Abstract: PURPOSE:To produce a pigment dispersant exhibiting excellent dispersing power and dispersion stability in water or a water-soluble medium, by reacting an aliphatic alkylamine with an alternating co-oligomer of maleic acid and an alkyl vinyl ether. CONSTITUTION:An alternating co-oligomer of maleic acid and an alkyl vinyl ether (e.g. alternating co-oligomer of methyl vinyl ether and maleic acid) is made to react with an aliphatic alkylamine (e.g. 2-aminoethanol, 3-amino-1- propanol, etc.) to obtain a vinyl oligomer-type pigment dispersant having carboxylic acid hydroxyalkylamide group at the side chain. The amount of the alkylamine is 15pts.wt. per 6pts.wt. of the alternating co-oligomer. USE:Since the dispersant exhibits blue color in alkaline state, it can be used also as a polymeric indicator, special sensor, etc.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an aliphatic polyester-based polymer excellent in the color, having a melting temperature(Tm) sufficient to a practically applicable level, excellent in mechanical strength and processability, and having a new structure. SOLUTION: This aliphatic polyester-based polymer comprises a dicarboxylate part represented by the formula (-CO-(R1)t-CO-O-R2-O-) (R1 is a 1-12C bivalent aliphatic group; R2 is a 2-12C bivalent aliphatic group; t is a number of 0 or 1), and at least one king of an ester part selected from a group of (i) an oxycarbonate part represented by the formula (-CO-R3-O-) (R3 is a 1-12C bivalent aliphatic group), (ii) a carbonate part represented by the formula (-OCOO-), and (iii) an ether group-containing aliphatic ester part represented by the formula (-CO-(R1)t-CO-O-[C3H5(OR4)O]n-) (R1 is a 1-12C bivalent aliphatic group; R4 is hydrogen or an acyl group) in the molecular chain, and further contains a phosphorus-containing connecting group derived from an acidic phosphorus compound in the polymer.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To synthesize the title compound in high stereoselectivity without utilizing participation of adjacent group located at second position by reacting phenylthioglycoside with alcohols in the presence of a specific compound in a nitrile based solvent. CONSTITUTION:Phenylthioglycoside is reacted with alcohols (e.g. methanol, galactose, cholesterol or serine in the presence of a N-halosuccinic acid imide (preferably N-bromosuccinic acid imide) and trifluoromethanesulfonic acid in a nitrile-based solvent (e.g. acetonitrile or propionitrile), preferably at -78 to -42 deg.C for 0.5-1hr to provide the objective compound.

CONSTITUTION:1.2-1.5 Equivalent (based on an alcohol) of a halogenated saccharide derivative (OH and amino groups are preliminarily protected with protecting groups) such as glucopyranosyl bromide, the alcohol such as methanol and molecular sieve 4A are dissolved in a solvent such as methylene chloride, sealed in a Teflon capsule, set in a high pressure reactor and subsequently subjected to a reaction at room temperature to 40 deg.C for 20-40 hours under >=4000 atmospheric pressure to form the objective glycosylation product, which is recrystallized, etc.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a pH-sensitive liposome, containing N-acylhomoserine and/or N-acylhomoserine lactone in a wall membrane and capable of controlling release of a drug in response to a change in pH. CONSTITUTION:A pH-sensitive liposome containing 5-30%, preferably 10-20% N-acylhomoserine and/or N-acylhomoserine lactone (the acyl group is preferably derived from a 10-18C saturated or unsaturated fatty acid) in a wall membrane of a liposome. The aforementioned liposome has high biological stability and is stable in the same manner as that of a liposome composed of the standard material, chemically and colloidally stable for a long period without releasing an enclosed drug in preservation thereof at pH =6 of environment in the outer aqueous phase of the liposome and increasing the release rate as the pH value attains 7-8.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain an inexpensive readily operable biocatalyst, supporting microbial cells in the interior of baglike units consisting of high polymer flat membranes, having a large surface area and high productivity with durability, excellent in stability, repeatedly usable for a long period and useful for bioreactors, etc. CONSTITUTION:A bioreactor 1 is constructed by filling support units 6 carrying microbial cells in the interior of a baglike units 5 consisting of high polymer flat membranes (e.g., acetyl cellulose flat membranes), preparing biocatalysts 3, alternately laminating the biocatalysts 3 and spacers 4 in a vessel 2 provided with an inflow pipe 7 and an outflow pipe 8 for a culture medium, a feed pipe 9 and a discharge pipe 10 for air or oxygen. A culture medium subjected to temperature control in a culture medium vessel 14 is passed through the culture medium inflow pipe 7 into the bioreactor 1 with a pump 15 through the high polymer flat membranes 5 and introduced into the biocatalysts 3. Metabolites formed in the biocatalyst 3 are then passed through the membrane 5, discharged to the outside of the system and taken from the culture medium outflow pipe 8 to provide the metabolites in a separator (A).

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a biological surfactant derived from a microorganism and made adaptable to a living body and showing specific compatibility in the living body, by reacting an aqueous solution of a multivalent metal salt with a sodium salt of rhamnolipid A or B. CONSTITUTION:Rhamnolipid is one kind of glycolipids and has such a structure that a hydrophilic group consists of a rhamnose residue and a carboxyl group, and an oleophilic group is composed of a two-chain alkyl group divided broadly into a decenoyl group and a structure wherein two hepthyl groups are branched from beta-hydroxypropionyl propionate. A sodium salt of rhamnolipid A (general formula I, M is a multivalent metal ion) or B (general formula II) and a salt of a multivalent metal such as calcium is reacted with said sodium salt to obtain metal soap. This metal soap is suitable for stable solubilization or emulsification to water and an org. solvent and has safety and biodegradability and can be widely utilized in fields of cosmetics and drugs.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a liposome having a wall membrane composed of a sucrose fatty acid ester and having the structure and function of bimolecular lipid membrane resembling a membrane of living body. CONSTITUTION:A thin film of a sucrose fatty acid ester (preferably a sucrose polyfatty acid ester containing >=20wt% diester) is produced by using preferably a mixture of chloroform and methanol as a solvent. A liposome is formed by using the sucrose fatty acid ester as a wall membrane keeping the concentration of the ester to 5-100mM/1 based on water. The liposome has a wall membrane originated from natural source, has high safety to living body, free from ill odor and had excellent chemical biological and colloid-chemical stability. The releasability of the sealed material can be properly controlled in the above liposome and accordingly, it is suitable as a novel slow-releasing agent or a material of ultramicrocapsule containing a water-soluble or oil-soluble drug, etc.
