Polymer (A) has transparency changes in a 10 wt.% aq. and/or org. solvent soln. and is poly-N-vinylcaprolactam, a copolymer contg. at least 20 wt.% N-vinylcaprolactam, or a polyvinylether. Monomer (B) forms a 3-D network on light-irradiation and ether does not have thermotropic properties of the type specified above or has such properties at at least 20 degrees C above the switching region for polymer (A). (C) is water.
