Abstract: The present invention provides for the use of aqueous film-forming formulations comprising at least one copolymer P as film-forming constituent which is present in disperse form in the formulation and is composed of ethylenically unsaturated monomers M, the monomers M comprisingi. from 70 to 99.9% by weight of at least one ester of methacrylic acid with a C1-C10-alkanol andii. from 0.1 to 30% by weight of at least one different monoethylenically unsaturated monomerand at least 50% by weight of the monomers M being other than methyl methacrylate and not more than 1% by weight of the monomers M having two or more ethylenically unsaturated double bonds, for coating mineral moldings.The present invention additionally provides a method of coating the mineral moldings, and also the mineral moldings themselves.

Abstract: Aqueous, pigment-containing coating material with a film-forming component comprising two copolymers (A) and (B) with glass transition temperatures of +20 to +70 deg C (TgA) and -30 to +50 deg C (TgB) respectively, in which (A) and/or (B) contains 0.1-5.0 wt% organosilicon comonomer units and the values of TgA and TgB differ by at least 5 K. An aqueous, pigment-containing coating material with a pigment volume concentration (PVC) of 5-25, containing pigment(s) and/or filler(s) and the following film-forming components in dispersed form: (a) 30-90 parts by weight (pts. wt.) copolymer (A) with a Tg of +20 to +70 deg C (TgA) and (b) 10-70 pts. wt. copolymer (B) with a Tg of -30 to +50 deg C (TgB). Copolymer (A) and/or (B) contain(s) 0.1-5.0 wt% polymerized units of organosilicon compound(s) and the values of TgA and TgB differ by at least 5 K. An Independent claim is also included for a method for coating bituminous substrates with this material.

Abstract: The present invention relates to the utilization of film-forming aqueous preparations containing at least one crosslinked dispersely distributed copolymer P for coating mineral shaped bodies and to a method for coating mineral shaped bodies, wherein copolymer P contains in polymerized form: a) 80 to 99.89 % by weight of at least one monomer selected from the esters of acrylic acid with C1-C12-alcanols, esters of methacrylic acids with C1-C8-alcanols and monovinyl aromatics, b) 0.1 to 19.99 % by weight of at least one monomer different therefrom and c) 0.01 to 1.9 % by weight of at least one crosslinking monomer selected from the esters of acrylic acid or methacrylic acid with linear or branched C3-C6-alkenols, cyclic C5-C7-alkenols and polycyclic C7- to C12-alkenols.

Abstract: Surprisingly, compositions containing a film forming polymer form coatings of low water uptake when the compositions contains a salt of sulfuric acid half ester of an ethoxylated 10-20C alkanol as emulsifier. Aqueous compositions containing: (i) at least one polymer as film former, obtained from an ethylenically unsaturated monomer M, which is dispersed in the aqueous phase of the compositions and have a glass transition temperature Tg in the region of -25 to+80 deg C, and (ii) at least one anionic emulsifier selected from salts of formula (I): Alk = linear or branched saturated 10-18C alkyl; Et = 1,2-ethylene; n exceeds 20 to 40, and M = monovalent cation or a cation equivalent, or mixtures of this salt optionally with various anionic emulsifiers are new. Independent claims are included for: (1) preparation of a coated mineral molded body with the composition deposited on at least one of its surfaces; (2) an aqueous mineral polymer dispersion obtainable by polymerization of an aqueous emulsion of at least one ethylenically unsaturated monomer M by radical emulsion polymerization in the presence of at least one radical polymerization initiator and at least two anionic emulsifying agents, comprising at least one salt of formula I and at least one salt of formula II below; (3) preparation of an aqueous polymer dispersion as in (2).

Abstract: Surprisingly aqueous preparations containing a copolymer P as completely or largely cross linked constituent comprising methacrylic acid alkyl esters, in which the bulk of methyl methacrylate monomer varies give coatings of gloss with increased stability over time. The coatings show good adhesions to mineral substrates and guarantee good protection against efflorescence. The use of an aqueous film forming preparation, for coating a mineral molded body, containing at least one copolymer P as film forming component dispersed in the preparation and ethylenically unsaturated monomers M is new. The monomer M comprises (wt. %): (i) 70-99 of at least one methacrylic acid ester with a 1-10C alkanol and (ii) 0.1-30 of at least one of different ethylenically unsaturated monomers, in which at least 50 wt. % of monomer M comprises methacrylic acid methyl ester, and at most 1 wt. % of monomer M contains two or more ethylenically unsaturated double bonds. Independent claims are included for: (1) A process for coating a mineral molded body with at least one aqueous film forming preparation; (2) a mineral molded body.
