Abstract: The invention relates to an absorbent, comprising an aqueous solution (A) of at least one amino acid salt of the formula (I), wherein R1 and R2 independently from each other represent alkyl or hydroxyalkyl, R is hydrogen, alkyl or hydroxyalkyl, or a group R together with R1 is alkylene, M is an alkali metal, and n an integer from 1 to 6, and (B) of at least one primary alkanolamine, which is substantially free of inorganic alkaline salts. The absorbent is used in a method for removing carbon dioxide from a gas flow, particularly combustion exhaust gases. Preferred amino acid salts (A) are N,N-dimethylamino acetic acid potassium salt, N,N-diethylamino acetic acid potassium salt and N-ethyl-N-methylamino acetic acid-potassium salt. Preferred alkanolamines (B) are 2-aminoethanol, 3-aminopropanol, 4-aminobutanol, 2-aminobutanol, 5-aminopentanol, 2-aminopentanol and 2-(2-aminoethoxy)ethanol.

Abstract: A process for removing acid gases from a hydrocarbonaceous fluid stream or an oxygen-comprising fluid stream in which the fluid stream is contacted with an aqueous solution which is essentially free from inorganic basic salts and comprises (i) at least one amine and (ii) at least one metal salt of an aminocarboxylic acid and/or an aminosulfonic acid. Conjoint use of the aminocarboxylic and/or aminosulfonic salt reduces the coabsorption of hydrocarbons or oxygen without significantly impairing the absorption rate at which acid gases are absorbed, without significantly reducing the absorption capacity of the solution for acid gases, and without significantly increasing the energy demand required for regeneration.

Abstract: In a method for removing acid gases from a fluid stream, the fluid stream, which is in contact with an absorption medium within an absorber, is passed through a first absorption zone in the absorber to remove a majority of acid gases from the fluid stream. The fluid stream is susequently passed through a second absorption zone in the absorber to further remove acid gases from the fluid stream. The loaded absorption medium is passed into a first regeneration zone to obtain a partially regenerated absorption medium, and a part of the partially regenerated absorption medium is passed into the first absorption zone. The other part of the partially regenerated absorption medium is passed into a second regeneration zone to obtain a regenerated absorption medium. A part of the regenerated absorption medium is passed into the first absorption zone and the other part is passed into the second absorption zone.

El uso combinado de sal de aminoácido y/o sal de aminoácido de azufre reduce la co-absorción de carbohidratos y oxígeno respectivamente, sin afectar sustancialmente la velocidad de absorción con la cual se absorben los gases de ácido, sin reducir sustancialmente la capacidad de absorción de la solución para gases de ácido y sin elevar sustancialmente el consumo de energía necesaria para regeneración.
