Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To quickly release adhesion uniformly so as to inflate an air bag toward an occupant side following sideward inflation without damaging any air bag main body cloth by using connection based on thermal welding by which comparatively uniform adhesive force can be easily obtained. SOLUTION: In an air bag 1, a back cloth material 3, in which an opening 6 for an inflator is bored in the center substantially and the circumference of the opening 6 is connected to a reinforcing body 8 so as to be reinforced, and a front cloth material 2 arranged opposedly to the back cloth material 3 are connected together in an outer circumference joint part 4 so as to be formed into a bag shape. In a plurality of parts A on the circumference between the opening 6 for an inflator and the outer circumference part 4, the front cloth material 2 and the back cloth material 3 are connected together via adhesive bodies 12 by means of thermal welding such as high frequency welding while different adhesive forces are applied to the front cloth material 2 and to the back cloth material 3.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture a lightweight durable air bag, in which a front material and a back material are firmly connected together easily, a small capacity is required for a built-in inflator, and breakage and the like due to local excessive extension in inflation is suppressed and strength is improved further as an extensible material provided with an excellent mechanical strength is used. SOLUTION: In an air bag 1, a back film 3, in which an opening 6 for an inflator is bored in the center substantially and the circumference of the opening 6 is connected to a reinforcing body 8 so as to be reinforced, and a front film 2 arranged opposedly to the back film 3 are connected together in an outer circumference joint part 4 so as to be formed into a bag shape. In this case, the front film 2 and the back film 3 are formed of extensible films, and in the back film 3 at least, an auxiliary reinforcing body 9 whose rigidity is higher than that of the back film 3 is connected from the opening 6 for an inflator to the outer circumference joint part 4.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air bag which can withstand against high temperature and pressure gas as strong adhesive force produced by thermal deposition between the same material qualities is maintained though cloths which are excellent in workability and relatively low in price are adopted for an air bag body cloth. SOLUTION: An air bag is bag-shapedly formed by joining the outer periphery 4 of a back cloth 3 composed of cloths where the circumferences of an inflater opening 6 drilledly provided at the about middle or of a vent opening 7 drilledly provided at the opening 6 and a proper position are joinedly reinforced by thermally depositing with reinforcing bodies 8, 9 to the outer periphery 4 of a surface cloth 2 composed of cloth being about the same in shape as the back cloth 3. In this case, a deposited film 8U is made to intervened between the surface and back of the back cloth 3, and many openings 3H are drilledly provided in the back cloth 3 located in a thermal deposition part B1.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To make an air bag surely developed by providing a cleavage section for the air bag housing pad, and thereby making at least the cleavage section and its neighborhood so constituted as to be made of thermal plastic material blended with filler accelerating a cleavage action. CONSTITUTION:The groove section 2 of a cleavage section is formed at a specified position in the inner surface of the air bag housing pad 1 for an air bag device 7 in order to guarantee easy rupture and cleavage in case of emergency. The cleavage section 2 and its neighborhood are formed out of thermal plastic material blended with filler accelerating a cleavage action. Namely, the air bag housing pad is formed out of thermal plastic elastmer blended with 1 to 50% filler by volume, the average grain size of which is 1 to 100mum. As a result, the time required for an air bag to be completely developed in a temperature range of -90 deg. to 90 deg.C is in a range of plus or minus 20ms with respect to a reference time for the complete development of the air bag at an ambient temperature. The loading of filler shall be 1 to 50% filler by volume.
