Abstract: PURPOSE:To have an electrode at low cost, with high functions and excellent durability by furnishing a rare metal film layer on a non-conductive base, and by providing a conductive layer for contacts. CONSTITUTION:An electrode 1 is made by forming a rare metal film layer 3 on one surface of a non-conductive base 2 followed by covering of part of this layer 3 with a conductive layer 4 for contacts. Any non-conductive substance may be used for this base 2, but some favorable example in terms of molding property are non-conductive plastics such as polyethylene terephthalate and polyamide. Unitary metal or alloy thereof Pt, Ag, Hg, Au, Cu, may be used to the layer 3, but Pd is the most favorable from the balancing point of view between suppression of the cost and provision of high functionality. A variety of conductive materials can be considered to the layer 4, but carbon material is to be preferred. The electrode 1 thus obtained has high functionality suitably to be used for battery electrodes, chemical reaction trough, sensor electrodes, etc., and is excellent in the mechanical strength of the electrode contacts.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain an inexpensive and high-performance cell electrode, chemical reaction tank electrode, sensor electrode, fuel cell electrode, bio-reactor electrode or the like by using a composite film made of a noble metal thin film and a mediator. CONSTITUTION:A noble metal thin film layer made of palladium or the like is formed on a nonconducting substrate made of polyethylene terephtalate or polyamide. The surface of this thin film layer is modified by a mediator made of a conducting polymer material such as polyaniline or its derivative. An inexpensive and high-performance electrode is thereby obtained.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the title coating having high electrical conductivity, capable of forming thin coating film, also easy to form transparent coating film, suitable for use in the filters for VDT, by dissolving a specific electrically conductive polymer in a solvent. CONSTITUTION:The objective coating can be obtained by dissolving (A) an electrically conductive polymer with an electrical conductivity of >=10 S/cm (pref. >=10 S/cm ) (pref. polyaniline or its derivative) in (B) a solvent such as N,N'-dimethylformamide or N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone. In order to enhancing the processibility and durability of said coating, a thermoplastic resin such as polyester or polystyrene, thermosetting resin such as epoxy or urethane resin, or semisynthetic polymer such as cellulose acetate or nitrocellulose may be incorporated in said coating.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To enhance accuracy and to reduce cost, by using a molded product formed from polyanilin or a composition consisting of a derivative thereof and polyanilin or a high-molecular compound different from said derivative as a carrier of enzyme. CONSTITUTION:An enzyme electrode is formed by immobilizing enzyme on a molded product formed from polyanilin or a composition consisting of a derivative thereof and polyanilin or a high-molecular compound different from said derivative. This polyanilin or the derivative thereof is obtained by an electrolytic polymerization method for electrolytically oxidizing anilin or a derivative thereof on an anode composed of a platinum or gold substrate in an acid solution. Herein, when polyanilin or the derivative thereof is obtained by the electrolytic polymerization method, one obtained using an electrolyte composed of a composition containing anilin at concn. of 1-6mol./l in the presence of hydrochloric acid, hydrogen borofluoride or acetic acid is especially pref. As the high-molecular compound, a fluorocarbon resin such as polytetrafluoroethylene is used.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the title material of a uniform film thickness with excellent film forming property, by markedly decreasing the formation of benzidine, etc., by performing electrolytic polymerization in a state in which gases generation the counter electrode is prevented from arriving at the working electrode by isolating the working electrode in the electrolytic polymerization solution. CONSTITUTION:A working electrode and a counter electrode are set in an electrolytic cell for holding an electrolytic polymerization solution so that the distance between the electrodes is not necessarily large, and moreover they are constituted so that gases generated in the counter electrode in, for example, a vacuum atmosphere is forcibly removed by upwardly passing gases without diffusion in the horizontal and downward directions, whereby the electrodes are brought into a state in which the gases generated in the counter electrode are prevented from arriving at the working electrode. For example, an electrolytic polymerization solution comprising a feed monomer (e.g., aniline) for an organic polymeric material such as polythiophene, polyaniline or poly-p-phenylene, borofluoric acid and ion-exchanged water is fed to said electrolytic cell and the pressure in the cell is decreased to a vacuum of 600-750mmHg with, for example, a vacuum pump to electrolytically polymerize the solution at -40-30 deg.C and a current density in the working electrode , thus producing the title material comprising a high-quality organic polymeric film on the working electrode.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To suppress increase in positive electrode potential in a high charge state and increase flatability of voltage in discharge by using polyaniline as positive active material and a salt containing bromine ion or iodine ion as electrolyte. CONSTITUTION:Polyaniline is formed by oxidation polymerization of aniline, and used as a positive electrode. Lithium, polyaniline, or graphite is used as a negative electrode. LiBr/propylene carbonate of LiI/propylene carbonate is used as electrolyte. By using these materials, a secondary battery is formed. By using a salt containing bromine or iodine ion as electrolyte, potential increase in a polyaniline positive electrode in charging is suppressed, and flatability of voltage in discharge is increased to obtain an efficient polymer battery.
