Described herein are oral care compositions (for tooth whitening) comprising a thickening system comprising a first thickening agent and a second thickening agent, wherein the first thickening agent comprises greater than 15 wt% of the mixture of the first and second thickening agents in the thickening system. The compositions comprise crosslinked polyvinylpyrrolidone complexed with hydrogen peroxide with a thickening system comprising silica and crosslinked polyvinylpyrrolidone.

The invention provides oral care compositions comprising isobutyl magnolol and propylene glycol monolaurate, together with methods of making and using the same. Also described is a method of enhancing the solubility of isobutyl magnolol in an oral care composition comprising effective amount of propylene glycol monolaurate. The composition is for use in the treatment of caries, gingivitis, periodontitis, tooth yellowing and halitosis.

Suitable carriers include orally acceptable carriers and dermatologically acceptable carriers. The disclosed compositions include oral care and personal care compositions useful for treating or preventing oral and skin conditions, respectively.

The one or more abrasives may include at least one plant-based abrasive.
