    Abstract: Described herein are oral care compositions comprising an orally acceptable carrier; an abrasive system comprising a calcium-based abrasive; and a core shell silica particle comprising; a metal silicate; and a silica particle comprising a core having a surface; wherein the metal silicate is chemically bound to a surface of the silica core; and wherein the metal silicate comprises a silicate of a divalent metal ion. Methods of making and using these compositions are also described.
