Abstract: A layered adhesive construction comprising a backing layer and a first and second layer of hydrocolloid adhesive, where the first and second layer of hydrocolloid adhesive have different composition, and the second layer of hydrocolloid adhesive is at least partly interposed between the first layer of hydrocolloid adhesive and the backing layer, the first and second adhesive layers consisting of a continuous phase and a discontinuous phase where the discontinuous phase of the first adhesive layer comprises a hydrocolloids providing a higher moisture absorption capacity and higher initial rate of absorption to the adhesive layer than the hydrocolloids in the discontinuous phase of the second adhesive layer, and the discontinuous phase of second layer of adhesive comprises hydrocolloids providing a higher cohesion following moisture absorption to the adhesive compared to the hydrocolloid in the discontinuous phase of the first adhesive layer.

Abstract: In an ostomy appliance comprising an adhesive, flexible, skin barrier produc t for securing the appliance to the user's skin, said skin barrier having a hole for receiving a stoma, ureter or catheter, and said skin barrier comprising, in the surface to be secured to the user's skin, at least a first zone showing adhesive and barrier properties and a second zone showing moisture absorbing properties wherein the first zone comprises a substantially homogeneous mixture of from 15 to 95 % by weight of one or more rubbery components and from 2 to 85 % by weight of a starch, and furthermore may comprise from 0 to 60 % by weight of one or more hydrocolloids, from 0 to 50 % by weight of one or more tackifier resins, from 0 to 10 % by weight of one or more plasticizers and from 0 to 5 % by weight of a pigment, the barrier adhesive "behaves", in a dry state, rheologically as an adhesive comprising hydrocolloid but which does not absorb moisture in the presence o f moisture. Thus, itching when the adhesive is placed on the skin and a light reddening after removal is avoided.

Abstract: An ostomy appliance body side member or an ostomy appliance comprising an adhesive wafer having a first adhesive surface for securing the appliance to the user's skin, said wafer having a second surface being covered with a carrier sheet which wafer has a hole for receiving a stoma wherein a part of the adhesive wafer surrounding the stoma shows balanced plastic and elastic properties allowing an adaptation of the size of the hole of the ostomy appliance to a stoma by enlarging the hole for accommodating the stoma by rolling up the inner rim thereof forming a torus and wherein a part of the second surface of the wafer surrounding the hole shows surface properties compatible with the first adhesive surface of the adhesive wafer locking the torus to the second surface in its rolled position by the contact between the second surface and the first adhesive surface enables a simple, safe and reliable customisation of the hole of a body side member without the use of tools and at the same time provides means for reducing the risk of causing injury to or constriction of the stoma.
