    Abstract: NEW MATERIAL:A reactive monomer derived from lactone of formula I (R, R1, R2, R3 are each H or CH3; R4 is of formula II, III, IV or V, copolymer of formula II and III, copolymer of formula II and IV, copolymer of formula II, formula IV and formula V, copolymer of formula III, formula IV and formula V, having OH group at the end). USE:Useful for coating film with both extensibility and toughness necessary on elastomers such as automotive bumpers. Also excellent in weatherability, physical properties, chemical resistance, contamination resistance, being of industrially effective liquid type. PREPARATION:A hydroxyalkyl mono(meth)acrylate of formula VI is reacted with a mixture of epsilon-caprolactone and beta-methyl-delta-valerolactone or a mixture of epsilon-caprolactone and trimethyl caprolactone into the objective compound of the formula I.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a self-adhesive composition which yields a slight tackiness of the applied surface when applied onto a substrate, allows a high self-adhesion between the applied surfaces and exerts an excellent aging property and printing suitability. SOLUTION: This adhesive composition contains as basic components (1) a cationic resin composition which is obtained by polymerizing a polymerizable unsaturated monomer (B) in the presence of a water-dispersible acrylic polymer (A), wherein at least one of the above water-dispersible acrylic polymer (A) and a polymer generated by polymerizing the above polymerizable unsaturated monomer (B) is a cationic polymer, and (2) a fine particle having an average particle size of from 0.5 to 30 μm. The acrylic polymer (A) includes a copolymer of a monomer mixture containing at least one of a cationic monomer or a hydrophilic monomer The weight ratio (A/B) of the acrylic polymer (A) to the polymerizable unsaturated monomer (B) is, e.g. about from 20/80 to 80/20.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form a high-color-density clear recording image by using the dye reception layer of an image receptor for thermal transfer recording. SOLUTION: The dye reception layer is formed by using an aqueous emulsion consisting of an emulsion containing polymer particles having a crosslinkage or crosslinkable polymer particles. The polymer particles are made of a copolymer of a polyfunctional monomer having at least two polymerizable unsaturations in the molecule with a monofunctional vinyl monomer, a copolymer of a crosslinking monomer with a monofunctional vinyl monomer or a copolymer of a polyfunctional monomer having at least two polymerizable unsaturations in the molecule with a crosslinking monomer and a monofunctional vinyl monomer. The polymer particles can be made from a monomer mixture containing a (meth)acrylic monomer and an aromatic vinyl monomer (e.g. styrene).

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form clear recording image having high color density and free from bleeding by means of a dye-receiving layer of image reception body for thermal transfer printing. SOLUTION: A dye-receiving layer is formed with a resin composition [a resin composition composed of a urethane resin (1) and a vinyl polymer (2) as resin components] containing a plasticizer which is solid at normal temperature. The examples of the plasticizer which is solid at normal temperature include dicyclohexyl phthalate, and the content of the solid plasticizer in the resin composition is about 0.1-50 pts.wt. based on 100 pts.wt. of the resin component. The resin component of the resin composition may comprise a urethane resin (1) and a polymer (2) dispersed in the urethane resin in particle state, or may be a core-shell structure comprising a urethane resin (1) and a vinyl polymer (2) or a polymeric aqueous emulsion containing polymer particles having a micro domain structure.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve releasability from a thermal transfer sheet, color developing density and clarity of an image by a dye receptive layer of a thermal transfer recording image receiving element. SOLUTION: A dye receptive layer is formed of resin composition containing water soluble silicate and vinyl resin. The vinyl resin can be used in the form of water solution or aqueous emulsion. The vinyl resin contains vinyl resin (e.g. acrylic resin, or styrene resin) having a functional group selected from a hydroxyl group, carboxyl group, silyl group, amide bond, and ester bond. A ratio of the water soluble silicate to the vinyl resin is the former/the latter = 1/99 to 99/1 (by weight) in terms of solid content.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate the excavation of a cohesive soil, a soft clay layer, a fine silt layer, etc., by using a stabilizing liq. contg. a water-soluble polymer which has a polyethylene structure as the backbone and comprises repreating structural units repersented by formulas I, II, and III and by causing the liq. to be adsorbed by clay, etc., to form an adsorption film to prevent the hydration and swelling of clay, etc. SOLUTION: The water-soluble polymer contains 0-15wt.% units represented by formula I, 13-50wt.% units represented by formula II, and 25-85wt.% units represented by formula III based on all the structural units. In formula I, R1 is C(CH3 )2 CH2 or an org. group; and M1 is H, Na, or K. In formula II, M2 is H, Na, or K. In formula III, R2 and R3 are each H or CH2 CH2 OH. The case when R1 is C(CH3 )2 CH2 : M1 and M2 are both Na; and R2 and R3 are both H is esp. pref. The viscosity of a 1-wt.% aq. soln. of the polymer is pref. 50-550cps. This polymer is adsorbed on the surface of clay, etc., to form a strong adsorption film and thus imparts a three-dimensional stability to clay particles and prevents them fromM contacting water.
