Also claimed are (i) preparation of sulphur, sulphur donor and accelerator vulcanised rubber mixtures containing one or more natural or man-made rubber, silicate, fillers, optionally carbon black and other components, the rubber, fillers, carbon black, optionally plasticiser, anti-oxidants, activators and (I) being mixed at 160-200 degrees C for 3-15 minutes followed by the addition of vulcanisation agents at 60-120 degrees C and mixing for a further 2-10 minutes to yield sheet or strips; (ii) tyre tread compounds with a high silicic acid content containing 4-10 parts weight (pts. wt.) (I) to 100 pts. wt. filler.
