    Abstract: A simplified method of manufacture for platinum (O) alkyne complexes is disclosed, as well as novel platinum (0) alkyne complexes per se. The complexes are made by reacting platinum-vinylsiloxane complexes with alkynes. The complexes are used in hydrosilylation, hydrogenation, isomerization and oligomerization reactions. Curable silicones using these platinum (0) alkyne complexes as curing catalysts are also disclosed.

    Abstract: 1286817 Silicon-substituted acetylenes DOW CORNING Ltd 2 Dec 1969 [4 Dec 1968] 57632/68 Heading C3S Novel organosilicon compounds of the formula wherein each R denotes a monovalent hydrocarbon or halogenated hydrocarbon radical, n denotes 0 or an integer of from 2 to 4 inclusive, m denotes 0, 1 or 2 but denotes 1 in each case when n is 0, there being at least one siliconbonded -C#C- group in the molecule, and R 1 denotes hydrogen, C 1-5 alkyl or alkenyl, phenyl or' a triorganosilyl radical or, when n is 0, denotes the radical R[R 2 Si-]p in which p is an integer of from 2 to 4 inclusive, are prepared either by reacting an acetylenic compound of the formula Li(C#C) m R 1 with a halopolysilane Y-[R 2 Si-] n X (wherein Y denotes halogen and X denotes R or halogen), or by reacting a diacetylenic compound of the formula with a halopolysilane R[R 2 Si-] p Y; (wherein Y denotes halogen). Examples describe the preparation of 1,2-bis-(triethylsilyl-1,3-butadiene) tetramethyldisilane, 1,2 - bis - (phenylethynyl) tetramethyldisilane, 1,4 - bis - (pentamethyldisilanyl) - 1,3 - butadiene and pentamethyl (phenylethynyl)disilane. Uses.-As intermediates and ultra-violet absorbents.

    Abstract: A process for the preparation of preceramic metallopolysilanes is described. The process consists of contacting and reacting organohalogendisilanes with metal containing compounds in the presence of a redistribution catalyst in an inert, essentially anhydrous atmosphere while removing volatile byproducts. The resulting metallopolysilanes contain significant amounts of aluminum, boron, chromium, lanthanum, molybdenum, neodymium, niobium, samarium, tantalum, titanium,tungsten, vanadium, yttrium, or zirconium. Such metallopolysilanes can be prepared with relatively low oxygen levels. These polymers are useful as chemical intermediates to synthesize organosilicon materials or polymers. These polymers are also useful, when fired at high temperatures, to form ceramic materials.

    Abstract: SUBSTANTIVE SKIN CARE COMPOSITIONS COMPRISING A POLYDIORGANOSILOXANE Skin care compositions having improved resistance to removal by water-exposure are provided by incorporating therein a nonvolatile polydihydrocarbylsiloxane having a viscosity at 25.degree.C of at least 30,000 centipose (30 pascal-seconds). Emulsion compositions are prepared by emulsifying the siloxane in water and mixing the resulting emulsion with one or more skin care components. A volatile siloxane is preferably also incorporated into the skin care composition. The amount of nonvolatile polydihydrocarbylsiloxane component is sufficient to increase the skin-substantivity of at least one of the skin care components.
