Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form a coating containing silicone dioxide without damaging a substrate by painting a coating composition containing a polysilastyrene on the substrate and then forming a coating containing silicone dioxide through heating in an oxidative atmosphere. SOLUTION: A coating composition is obtained by blending a polysilastyrene having the ratio of the silicone-bonding methyl group to the silicone-bonding phenyl group of 1:1-4:1, a ceramic oxide precursor for reforming, 1-96 wt.% of a filler, 0.01-10 wt.% of a silane coupling agent, 5-1,000 ppm of a catalyst, a flux and 20-99.1 wt.% of a solvent. A coating is formed by stenciling this coating composition on a substrate. Then polysilastyrene is melted and fluidized by heating to a temperature not lower than the melting point of polysilastyrene. Following that, a coating containing silicone dioxide having a thickness of 1-500 μm is formed by heating at 50-1,000 deg.C in an inert atmosphere.

Abstract: Process for coating a surface with an organosiloxane composition to render it non-adherent. The organosiloxane composition is substantially solvent-free, has a viscosity not exceeding 4000 cS at 25*C and comprises (1) a polydiorganosiloxane having siliconbonded vinyl radicals (2) an organohydrogenpolysiloxane and (3) a catalyst which is RhX3(SR2)3 or Rh2(CO)4X2 in which X is halogen, preferably chlorine, and each R is alkyl, aryl, aralkyl, alkaryl or R''3SiQ wherein Q is a divalent aliphatic hydrocarbon radical and R'' is alkyl, aryl, aralkyl or alkaryl or (CH3)3Si-. After application the composition is cured.

Abstract: A process for the preparation of preceramic metallopolysilanes is described. The process consists of contacting and reacting organohalogendisilanes with metal containing compounds in the presence of a redistribution catalyst in an inert, essentially anhydrous atmosphere while removing volatile byproducts. The resulting metallopolysilanes contain significant amounts of aluminum, boron, chromium, lanthanum, molybdenum, neodymium, niobium, samarium, tantalum, titanium,tungsten, vanadium, yttrium, or zirconium. Such metallopolysilanes can be prepared with relatively low oxygen levels. These polymers are useful as chemical intermediates to synthesize organosilicon materials or polymers. These polymers are also useful, when fired at high temperatures, to form ceramic materials.

Abstract: Skin care compositions having improved resistance to removal by water-exposure are provided by incorporating therein a nonvolatile siloxane having a viscosity of at least 30,000 centipoise. Emulsion compositions are prepared by emulsifying the siloxane in water and mixing the resulting emulsion with one or more skin care components. A volatile siloxane is preferably also incorporated into the skin care composition.
