Abstract: Binder compositions containing inorganic fillers and thermoplastic polyurethane block copolymers with soft and hard segments, in which at least one hard segment contains a bicyclic structural element formed by the criss-cross polyaddition reaction between a di-isocyanate and an azine compound. A binder composition (BC) containing (at least) (i) an inorganic filler and (ii) thermoplastic polyurethane block copolymer(s) (TPU) with soft segment(s) (A) and hard segment(s) (B), in which at least one of the hard segments contains a structural element of formula (I): R , R = optionally substituted 4-20C aromatic or heteroaromatic groups, with R = R = H, or R -R = essentially completely fluorinated 1-10C alkyl; R , R = linear or branched aliphatic residues, cycloaliphatic residues or aromatic residues (all with 4-20C, all optionally substituted); n = 1-100 . An Independent claim is also included for a method for the production of BC by mixing components (i) and (ii) together.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a magnetic recording medium, comprising a non-magnetic support and at least one magnetic coating applied thereto, whereby said coating contains at least one finely distributed magnetic material dispersed in a binding agent. Said binding agent contains at least one polyurethane resin (PV, which can be obtained by cross-linking at least one polyisocyanate (A) with at least one polyurethane prepolymer (B) which is free of isocyanate groups and contains at least 3 active hydrogen atoms. The invention is characterised in that the polyurethane prepolymer (B) has at least two hydroxyl groups and at least one primary and/or secondary amino group. The invention also relates to a method for producing a magnetic recording medium, polyurethane prepolymers B) which are free of isocyanate and a method for the production and use thereof.

Abstract: Polymeric materials (I) are obtainable by reacting 1. a polymer II comprising a) from 80 to almost 100 mol % of a C1-C25-alkyl ester of an alpha , beta -unsaturated carboxylic acid, b) from 0 to 20 mol % of a further monomer, c) tetrahydrofuran hydroperoxide as polymerization initiator and, if required, d) a further polymerization initiator and/or regulator by means of which the majority of the polymer chains of the polymer II are terminated at one of their ends by a hydroxyl group, 2. with a polyfunctional isocyanate III to give a reaction product IV, the amount of isocyanate groups being from 1.2 to 3.0 mol per mol of hydroxyl groups of II, and 3. reacting IV with ammonia or with a compound V which has an amino function reactive toward isocyanates. The polymeric materials can be used as dispersing resins for pigment-containing coatings, in particular for the production of magnetic recording materials.
