    Abstract: A method and apparatus for use in an IPTV communications network. A node comprises a user prediction function for determining that a user is likely to switch between IPTV channels, and a transmitter for, as a result of the determination, requesting from a remote node fragments for a further IPTV channel that is not currently being viewed by the user. The node is also provided with a receiver for receiving from the remote node the requested fragments; and a memory for storing the received fragments. By determining that a user is likely to switch channels, the node can pre-fetch fragments for the channel that the user is likely to switch to.

    Abstract: A node and a method for use in an IPTV communications network. The node comprises a prediction logic function for determining when the node must receive data fragments relating to a plurality of IPTV channels, and a transmitter for, as a result of the determination, requesting from at least one remote node fragments for the plurality of IPTV channels such that the fragments will, when rendered, provide at least one of the IPTV channels at a reduced quality. A receiver is provided for receiving the requested fragments, along with a memory for storing the received fragments. By requesting fragments for a channel that, when rendered, provide the channel at a reduced quality, bandwidth requirements are reduced.

    Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and arrangements for controlling transmission of data bits in a bit transfer session for transmitting data information from an application server ( 2 ) to a client ( 1 ), said bit transfer session involving bit transfer over a wireless communications link by means of a transport protocol with a flow control mechanism. According to the present invention a radio resource managing unit ( 6 ) sends information regarding the bandwidth on the wireless link that the bit transfer session currently is allowed to use. This feedback information from the radio resource managing unit is used to set and update flow control parameters continuously throughout the session. Thereby optimization of the flow control parameters is facilitated, which makes it possible to enhance the end-user QoS and provide more efficient use of available radio resources.

    Abstract: The present invention relates to the caching of static information relating to a communication application executed in an user equipment in a wireless communication systems. The method of the invention is applicable in the establishment of, or during, a communication session, between the user equipment and a service application, via a proxy. The user equipment sends a start message, comprising a location indicator, to the proxy requesting to utilize a service application. The proxy access a caching node by the use of the location indicator and retrieves the static information. The static information has been cached in the caching node prior to the communication session. The proxy forms a request based on the static information, and sends it to the service application. The service application will be provided with static information without the static information has to be transferred from the user equipment during each communication session.

En el proceso de responder a una solicitud de contenido que proviene de la terminal de cliente, el metodo determina 515 si el suministro de la respuesta a la peticion de contenido seria benefica desde una modificacion de parametros de calidad de servicio, y dicho metodo inicia, si se determina que dicha modificacion es benefica, una modificacion 520 de parametros de calidad de servicio para su uso en la respuesta a la peticion de contenido.
