Abstract: The invention relates to a packet switched mobile telecommunication system, a rate controlling means in said system, a method and a computer program product. The system comprising at least a first rate controlling means residing in a Radio Controlling Entity, RCE, arranged for controlling bit rates of a first radio link to a first mobile terminal and a second rate controlling means arranged for controlling bit rates of a second radio link to a second mobile terminal. The first rate controlling means comprises means for notifying the second rate controlling means about a change of the bit rates of said first radio link, the first and the second rate controlling means comprise means for negotiating a corresponding change of the second radio link layer bit rate, and the first and the second rate controlling means comprise means for notifying their respective mobile terminals to modify their application layer bit rates accordingly.

Abstract: Un método para controlar la transmisión de bites de datos en una sesión de transferencia de bites para transmitir información de datos desde un servidor (2) de aplicaciones a un cliente (1), dicha sesión de transferencia de bites conlleva transferencia de bites por un enlace de comunicación inalámbrico por medio de un protocolo de transporte con un mecanismo de control de flujo caracterizado por la etapas de: una entidad (2, 4) de red recibe (32, 34) información continuamente durante toda dicha sesión desde una unidad (6) de gestión de recursos de radio sobre el ancho de banda en el enlace inalámbrico que la sesión de transferencia de bites tiene permitido usar actualmente, y dicha entidad de red actualiza (35) al menos un parámetro relacionado con el mecanismo de control de flujo del protocolo de transporte como respuesta a dicha información recibida, para controlar la velocidad de transmisión de la sesión de acuerdo con dicha información recibida.

Abstract: This invention refers to a bandwidth optimiser, dynamically operating in connections relating to radio-communications for multi-bearer systems, especially useful for DECT systems for the short-distance transfer of data packets. Such an optimiser comprises: a first block to which bit error rate (BER) is fed and which calculates the most likely number (k) of retransmissions, which is required by the quality of air interface; a second block, which receives from the first one said number (k) of retransmissions and provides, on the basis of such a number, a table giving the change in transmission time with the number of bearers; and a third block, which is fed by the second one and decides the optimal number of bearers to be allocated to the connection and the output of which feeds a device for resources allocation (RA), said optimal number of bearers representing the maximum band to allocate to the connection, depending also on the traffic intensity.
