Abstract: PURPOSE:To make partitions uniform in height on a substrate without damaging an ITO film on the substrate and uniformly provide phosphors between the partitions. CONSTITUTION:A photosensitive paste 3 is stuck to an ITO film 2 on a substrate 1, and low-softening point glass patterns are formed by photolithography with a photo-mask 4. Phosphors 6 are uniformly formed between the low- softening point glass patterns 5, 5. A plate glass 10 is stuck to a partition holding plate 8, and resist 11 is provided on it. Photolithography is applied with a photo-mask 12 of the same patterns as those of the photo-mask 4 to obtain the resist of the preset patterns. Sand blast is applied, and the plate glass 10 is machined to form screens 13 of the preset patterns. The screen holding plate 8 is reversed and positioned on the substrate 1, and the partitions 13 are overlapped on the low-softening point glass patterns 5 on the substrate 1. The substrate 1 and the screens 13 are fixed by baking, and the partition holding plate 8 is removed.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vacuum display device that is made thin and light and does not have the problem of discharge and crosstalk. SOLUTION: The vacuum display element 1 is composed of an anode substrate 2, a control substrate 6, a back substrate 3, and a side plate 4 or the like. The anode substrate 2 is provided with light-emitting dots 7 arranged in a matrix, and the control substrate 6 is provided with through-holes 8 corresponding to the dots and stripe-shaped control electrodes 9 and the surface of an anode electrode side is provided with antistatic electrodes. The through- holes 8 are provided with mesh grids 16 electrically connected to the control electrodes. The inside of the back substrate 3 is provided with stripe-shaped back electrodes 10 which are perpendicular to the control electrodes 9, and filament cathodes 11 on the back substrate 3 side are parallel to the control electrodes. The back electrodes 10 are scanned, and display signals are sent to the control electrodes 9. Electrons pass through the selected through-hole 8 and strike the light-emitting dot 7 directly below the through-hole to make the dot emit light. By virtue of the mesh grids 16, anode potential does not adversely affect the selectivity of the control electrodes 9, and a simple structure can be achieved by three substrates 2, 3 and 6. Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display element that can arrange the required quantity of getter near a light emitting part, where gas is easily generated, in an envelope 1 of a high vacuum atmosphere. SOLUTION: The display element is provided with a post member 20 of hollow cylinder shape between an anode substrate and a cathode substrate. Grooves 21 are formed at the anode substrate side end part of the post member. The evaporating type getter 22 is held inside the post member 20 by a support member. When the getter is evaporated by heating, evaporated getter substance goes out of the grooves into the envelope. Since the grooves face an anode substrate region without a picture element, a mirror is formed in a position off the picture element. The emission of the picture element is not thereby disturbed by the mirror. Since the interior of the post member is used as the layout space of the getter, a new space is dispensed with to increase area for forming a getter film. The effect of the getter is increased making effective use of the anode side area suitable for adsorbing gas. The service life of the display element can thereby be improved.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance display quality by improving luminescent brightness and chromaticity in a fluorescent emission device for observing luminescence of a phosphor through a-ITO and a translucent substrate. SOLUTION: A fluorescent emission device has an anode substrate and a cathode substrate facing each other, and an envelope made of a spacer member between both substrates. An FEC(field emission cathode) is placed on the inner surface of the cathode substrate. An anode comprising a ITO film and a phosphor layer is formed on the inner surface of the anode substrate. The luminescence of the phosphor layer is observed through the ITO film and the anode substrate. A spectral transmissivity of the ITO film varies according to the film thickness. The thickness of the ITO film is adjusted, so that the peak of a luminescent spectrum of a phosphor used agrees with the peak of a spectral transmissivity. When ZnO: Zn of green luminescence is used, the thickness of the ITO film is set to 1,250 Å. Both peaks substantially match with each other, and green light is efficiently transmitted and observed by an observer. Display light has chromaticity near to the luminescent color of the ZnO: Zn phosphor, and transmissivity is made higher than the conventional device.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To obtain a container for a display device in which even when a spacer is disposed between a cathode substrate and an anode substrate, an electron source is not polluted and also a fluorescent material layer is not deteriorated in a container comprising a cathode substrate and an anode substrate. CONSTITUTION: Electrons released from tip of an emitter cone 9 are accelerated by an anode conductor 6-1 applied with positive voltage against a gate conductor 6-1, and thus impinge on a luminescent material layer 6-2, so that the luminescent material layer 6-2 is excited and makes luminescence. This luminescence is observed through a transparent, anode substrate 5. A spacer 3 is fixed only in its end on the side of a cathode substrate 1 with acryl resin (residue) 4, so that even with irradiation of electrons released to a fixed portion of the spacer 3, oxygen is not liberated.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To arrange column members having a uniform height between an anode substrate and a cathode substrate in an image display device formed by using a field emission element. CONSTITUTION:A glass pattern 3 having a low softening point is arranged on an anode substrate 2 while keeping away from phosphor layers 4. A bundle of hardened glass fiber 6 is sliced in a prescribed length. Ni 13 is applied to one end of the glass fiber. Paste 14 containing magnet powder is filled in a recess formed in a desired pattern on a glass substrate 7. One end of the glass fiber is held by magnetic force, and a glass substrate 12 is fixed to the other end by an adhesive 11. The other end of the glass fiber is fitted to the glass pattern of the anode substrate 2, and these are baked, and are fixed to each other.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain sufficient luminance, and to prevent deterioration in luminance due to decomposition of WO3 by forming a phosphor layer out of double layers of a luminous character display layer composed of a ZnO:Zn phosphor alone, and a getter layer including WO3. CONSTITUTION:On the upper surface of an anode conductor 13, a phosphor layer 17 composed of double layers of a getter layer 15 and a luminous character display layer 16 are deposited, and an anode 18 is formed as a luminous character display part. For the getter layer 15, 0.5-5wt.% of WO3 fine particle is added to a ZnO:Zn phosphor of average particle size of 3-10mum. The luminous character display layer 16 is composed of a ZnO:Zn phosphor of average particle size 3-10mum alone. As the entire surface is phosphor layer, luminous area is increased, and initial luminance of th phosphor layer is improved thereby. Since there is no WO3 on the surface of the phosphor layer, no residual image is to be observed in a segment burned for a long period of time.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an airtight vessel that can keep internal vacuum satisfactory with excellent adsorption characteristic of a getter without needing a getter chamber. SOLUTION: This airtight vessel 10 is composed of an anode substrate 1, a cathode substrate 2 and a frame-shaped side face member 3 provided between both substrates. A cutout 4 format at the side face member becomes an exhaust hole 5 for communicating the inside and outside of the airtight vessel. Getter members 20 are arranged in the exhaust hole. The exhaust hole is sealed with a cover member 11. A getter mirror is formed on the anode substrate in the exhaust hole 5 to efficiently adsorbs gas generated from the anode side. Exhaust is facilitated since there is no getter chamber, and drop of vacuum caused by gas emission is suppressed because of small inner surface area, so that the small getter arrangeable in the exhaust hole is sufficient.
