    Abstract: A low melting glass smoothing layer (2) is provided on the color filters on the interior surface of a glass sheet (1) of an anode substrate (11) for a display device. An anode substrate for a display device has a smoothing layer (2) on the interior surface of a glass sheet bearing color filters. The smoothing layer (2) consists of a low melting glass which has a softening point below the deformation point of the glass sheet and a deformation point at least as high as the heating temperature used in a subsequent production stage. An Independent claim is also included for production of an anode substrate by forming color filters (R, G, B) on the interior surface of a glass sheet (1), applying a low melting glass as described above to form a smoothing layer (2) on the interior surface and forming a conductive film (4) on the smoothing layer (2). Preferred Features: The low melting glass is a lead-free ZnO glass selected from ZnO-B2O3-SiO2 and Bi2O3-ZnO-SiO2 glasses.

    Abstract: A strut aligning fixture capable of improving misregistration of struts arranged between two glass plates for a vacuum glass envelope to hold the glass plates spaced from each other at a predetermined interval. An alignment plate is formed of a first alignment plate member of a small thickness and a second alignment plate member of a large thickness by lamination. The first alignment plate member is provided with strut holes, which can be formed with high accuracy because of a reduced thickness of the first alignment plate member. The alignment plate is used as a fixture for arranging the struts in the vacuum glass envelope while minimizing misregistration of the struts.

    Abstract: A vacuum envelope capable of preventing contamination of an electron source and deterioration of luminous characteristics of a phosphor layer. Electrons emitted from a tip end of emitter cones are accelerated by an anode conductor to which a positive voltage is applied with respect to a gate conductor, to thereby impinge on the phosphor layer, leading to luminescence of the layer. The luminescence is observed through a transparent anode substrate. Spacers are bonded at only one end thereof to a cathode substrate by means of seal glass, to thereby keep the seal glass from being irradiated with electrons.

    Abstract: An airtight envelope for an FED capable of ensuring formation of a gap or internal space therein with high accuracy and preventing leakage thereof and a decrease in display area. An anode substrate having a phosphor-deposited display pattern formed thereon and a cathode substrate having an electron emission source formed thereon are sealed joined to each other using a sealing material, to thereby provide an airtight envelope for an FED. The substrates are provided at a portion thereof joined together with particulate or bar-like elements which are kept unmelted or substantially unsoftened. Also, spacers are arranged at positions in a gap between the anode substrate and the cathode substrate which do not interfere with a display by the FED.
