    Abstract: In an elevator apparatus, by use of a microcomputer (1), a signal is supplied to a base driving circuit (5) so as to turn driving control elements on/off to generate a pulse-width controlled voltage to thereby control the rotation of a door driving motor. An elevator stoppage signal and a door opening/closing allowing signal (8) are supplied from an elevator control means (9) to the microcomputer (1) and the base driving circuit (5). The base driving circuit (5) has a double system for its door opening operation so that it should not perform the driving of opening a door when the signal (8) shows the fact that the elevator is not in stoppage and the location is outside the zone in which the opening/closing of the door is to be allowed.

    Abstract: The system has cameras 11-5 to 11-12 located inside lift cars and/or landing stages to view passengers, and first and second image processing means for processing data from the cameras. As shown, each camera has an associated first image processor 12-5 to 12-12 which provides analysis of a lower accuracy than a common, second image processor 4 (30% error in estimating passenger numbers as compared with 5%). The greater accuracy provided by the second processor 4 may be used, for example, to verify that only two passengers are present in a car, in which case for crime prevention the car is stopped at every floor. Another example in which processor 4 is called upon, is in response to operation of a special call button when it is necessary to determine whether or not a passenger is in a wheelchair.

    Abstract: An elevator car and a counterweight is suspended on a sheave by means of a rope in a well-rope faashion. In dependence on the number of passengers on the car, the sheave is applied with an unbalance torque making appearance between the car and counterweight. Upon starting of the elevator operation by releasing a brake, upward or backward bouncing of the car takes place due to the unbalance torque. For preventing such bouncing of the car, a start compensation is performed by generating a motor torque which can cancel out the unbalance torque in precedence to the releasing of the brake. The brake is installed swingably on a winding equipment. Displacement of the brake during actuation thereof indicates the presence of the unbalance torque. By taking advantage of this displacement, the start compensation is carried out by increasing the motor torque progressively in the direction depending on the displacement and by holding the motor torque constant at a value attained when the displacement becomes smaller than a predetermined value.

    Abstract: A plurality of characteristic modes represent traffic demand states occurring in a building in which the system is installed. When a detected traffic demand state coincides with one of the modes, operation of the system is controlled with the aid of control parameters determined thereby so that the currently detected traffic demand is processed in an optimal manner. The modes are stored and selectively read out in response to traffic demand detection. A mode creating and modifying capability accommodates new traffic demand states through a learning procedure, a mode being established by an automatic learning procedure in dependence on the results of evaluation of the traffic demand characteristic with regard to the significance, the time or period and continuity thereof. To this end, a disconnectable learning microcomputer is provided in addition to the system operation and car controlling microcomputers. Special modes can be manually input at a terminal.

    Abstract: An elevator control apparatus comprises an inverter device for supplying an induction motor for driving an elevator cage with AC electric power of variable voltage and frequencies and control equipment for controlling the output voltage and frequencies of the inverter device in response to signals produced in floors served by the elevator and in an elevator cage. The inverter device is constructed by a converter unit for converting AC electric power to DC electric power, at the input end of which a capacitor is connected in parallel with an AC electric source, an inverter unit for inverting the DC electric power converted in the converter unit into AC electric power, at the output end of which a capacitor is connected in parallel with an induction motor for driving the elevator cage and a DC reactor connected between the converter unit and the inverter unit. The thus constructed elevator control apparatus does not cause interference in electric appliances such as audio equipment, computer etc. existing within a building in which the elevator is installed.

    Abstract: An insulated gate field transistor has a well region (42) formed in a semiconductor substrate (41) of different conductivity type. The well region (42) has an opening in it so that a part of the substrate (47) extends within it. Source and drain regions (43, 44) are formed in the well region (42) on opposite sides of the opening, with the same conductivity type as the substrate (41). An insulating layer (45) is formed on the surface of the substrate between the source and drain regions (43, 44) and a gate electrode (46) is formed on the insulating layer (45). A potential is applied to the gate electrode (46) to reverse-bias the substrate-well junction and a depletion layer (48) is formed which includes the part of the substrate (41) between the source and drain regions (43, 44). This enables the transistor to have a small body effect, so that it maybe operated with a constant current charac.
