    Abstract: Procedeu de obtinere a unui catalizator de argint utilizat la fabricarea oxidului de etilena care consta în impregnarea unui suport poros, rezistent la caldura, cu solutii continând complecsi de sare de argint-amina si compusi au unui promotor ales dintre: potasiu, rubidiu, cesiu sau un amestec al acestora, într-o concentratie astfel aleasa, încât argintul sa fie în catalizator în proportii de 3...20% în greutate, iar promotorul în proportie de 0,003...0,05% în greutate, dupa impregnare materialul încalzindu-se la o temperatura de 170...400 grade C pentru descompunerea sarii de argint-amina în argint metalic, caracterizat prin aceea ca în calitate de amina pentru formarea complexului de sare de argint-amina, foloseste un amestec de 10 pânala 40% în greutate din cel putin o tert-alchilamina cu formula generala I: (vezi formula) si 60 pâna la 90% în greutate din cel putin o alchilamina secundara cu formula generala II: (vezi formula) în care R1, R2, R3, R4 si R5 reprezinta radical alchilcu 1 pâna la 4 atomi de carbon.

    Abstract: A method for improving the activity of a used supported silver catalyst, used for the manufacture of ethylene oxide by reaction of ethylene with oxygen or air, which method consists essentially of: (a) impregnating said used catalyst at a temperature from 80 DEG C. to 150 DEG C. and for 0.75 hour to 10 hours with an impregnating solution containing water, a water-miscible organic solvent selected from the group consisting of methanol, ethanol, propanol, and isopropanol, at least one compound of cesium, rubidium, or of cesium and rubidium in an amount providing from 50 mg to 1000 mg per kilogram of solution, said solution containing from 5 to 50 percent by weight of water; (b) separating the impregnated catalyst from excess impregnating solution; and (c) drying the impregnated catalyst.

    Abstract: The activity of supported silver catalysts used up in the direct oxidation of ethylene with molecular oxygen or air is improved by impregnating the catalyst arranged in a fixed bed with a solution of a caesium and/or rubidium compound in an inert organic solvent, optionally together with up to 40% by weight of water, calculated on the total liquid, as dissolving intermediary, so as to produce a concentration gradient of from 0.3 to 20 parts of caesium and/or rubidium per 1 million parts of catalyst and per meter of fixed bed, counter to the direction of flow of the gas to be reacted. In this manner the activity of the catalyst is considerably improved which results in an increased selectivity of the oxidation of ethylene to ethylene oxide.
