    Abstract: Reactive, hardenable polymer mixt. contains (A) epoxy cpds. and (B) polycarboxylic acid units. (B) contains (a) a cpd. of formula (I) or (Ia): (where R1 is the residue of an OH gp.-contg. polymeric polymsn. and/or condensn. prod. polyester having OH-no. 20-300 or phenoplast having OH-no. 100-800; R2 is the residue of an at least tetrabasic carboxylic acid contg. an esterifiable COOH gp. in o- or peri-position; R5 is as R2 or is the residue of an at least dibasic carboxylic acid contg. an esterifiable COOH gp. in the o- or periposition) and/or (b) an at least tetrabasic cyclic carboxylic acid cpd. contg. two o- or peri-COOH gps. or one anhydride gp. together with at least one R1 gp. and/or (c) a cpd. (I) or (Ia) in which the anhydride gps. are replaced, at least partly, by free acid and/or ester gps., and/or (d) a cpd. (b) in which the anhydride gps. of the polycarboxylic acid cpds. are replaced, at least partly, by free acid- and/or ester gps. The mixts., as solns. or powders, may be used as coating compsns., e.g. as stovable lacquers, primers, top lacquers, 1-layer lacquers, shock-drying systems for coil-coating in lacquering food tins. The mixts. can also be used as laminates, as protective coatings, e.g. for articles exposed to aggressive media, weathering, solvents, heat, 2-component hot melt- and thermosetting adhesives; as binders, e.g. for textiles, and as moulded resins, casting resins, putties, foams and insulating lacquers. The mixts. are stable, have high reactivity, can be crosslinked at 20 degrees C, and can be used as powders which cause no environmental pollution in use. Powder lacquers may be hardened by stoving at 100-180 degrees C in 30 min.
