Abstract: According to an aspect, a display apparatus includes: a plurality of light sources; a display device irradiated with light from the light sources; and a controller. The display area includes a plurality of partial areas corresponding to the light sources on a one-to-one basis. Each of the partial areas includes a first area and a second area, the first area being irradiated with light from a first light source that corresponds thereto, and the second area being irradiated with light from the first light source and a second light source adjacent to the first light source. The controller controls an operation of the first light source based on whether the first area requires the light from the first light source and whether the second area obtains light required for display output by receiving the light from the second light source.

Abstract: According to an aspect, a display device includes: an image display panel having an image display surface on which display is to be controlled based on an image signal; a light source device that includes light sources provided corresponding to divided partial areas of the image display surface, and is configured to illuminate the image display surface; and a signal processor configured to calculate a light quantity of each light source for each of the partial areas. The signal processor is configured to calculate the light quantity for each partial area based on the image signal, set one of the partial areas as an adjustment target partial area for the light quantity, and adjust the light quantity in the adjustment target partial area when the light quantity of an adjacent partial area located around the adjustment target partial area is equal to or smaller than a predetermined value.

Abstract: According to an aspect, a display device includes a pixel including a first sub-pixel configured to emit light having a peak in a spectrum of red, a second sub-pixel configured to emit light having a peak in a spectrum of green, and a third sub-pixel configured to emit light having a peak in a spectrum of blue. Abstract: According to an aspect, a display device includes: a display panel having a display area including a plurality of pixels; and an illuminator provided so as to overlap the display panel and configured to illuminate the display area. The illuminator has a plurality of segment blocks set in different positions in the display area. Each of the segment blocks is provided such that the luminance of the segment block is individually controlled. At least one of the segment blocks satisfies a predetermined condition. The predetermined condition is such that at least two light source rows each including a plurality of light sources arranged in a first direction are arranged in a second direction intersecting the first direction, and that none of the light sources included in the two light source rows adjacent in the second direction are in the same straight line along the second direction.

Abstract: According to an aspect, a display device includes an image display panel; a planar light source including a light guide plate, a first sidelight light source, and a second sidelight light source; and a control unit. The control unit sets first luminance determination blocks in a first display surface of the image display panel and identifies a first luminance determination block to be a target of luminance correction by referring to luminance information on the light sources. The control unit sets second luminance determination blocks in a second display surface of the image display panel and identifies a second luminance determination block to be a target of luminance correction by referring to the luminance information on the light sources. The control unit controls light source lighting amounts of the respective light sources to satisfy luminance of the identified first luminance determination block and the identified second luminance determination block.
