The composition is prepared so that, when 10 g of it is dissolved in 1 l of ion-exchanged water at 20 deg.C, the resultant solution has a pH of 7.5-9.5 and the amounts of an aqueous N/10 H2SO4 solution necessary for changing the pH to 7.0 and 10 are 0.1-1.5 l and 0.1-1.0 l, respectively, In order to satisfy this requirement, a compound having a buffer action is compounded.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain strength durable for cleaning operation and good water- dissolubility by impregnating a specific waterdisoluble fiber product with potassium salt aqueous solution containing a waterssoluble solvent. CONSTITUTION:A waterdissoluble fiber product is manufactured, after the web is formed, by spraying or applying carrageenin singly or the mixture of carrageenin and galactomannan as a binder in the ratio more than 1wt.% and less than 5wt.% to the weight of pulp. When the waterdissoluble fiber product is impregnated with potassium salt aqueous solution containing 10 to 50wt.% of a watersoluble solvent, wet tissue can be obtained. As the watersoluble solvent, monovalent lower alcohol, and the mono- or diether of glycol and lower alcohol, or the ester of glycol and lower fatty acid, or further the combination of one kind or two or more kinds of polyhydric alcohol is used. As potassium salt, potassium chloride, potassium sulfate, dihydrogen potassium phosphate, monohydrogen dipotassium phosphate or the like can be used, and the concentration of aqueous solution in the range of 0.5 to 3% is preferable.
