    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process for producing a magnetic coating material capable of applying the optimum shearing force to a kneading material and giving a coating material having excellent dispersibility. SOLUTION: In a process for producing a magnetic coating material including a kneading step to knead a magnetic coating material with a continuous twin- screw kneader, the optimum kneading condition in the kneading step is determined in such a manner that the gloss of the magnetic coating film formed of the magnetic coating obtained by kneading the kneading object at prescribed kneading extent and kneading speed based on the kneading energy defined by the following formula becomes the peak value or thereabout. The kneading energy is defined by [(P-Po)×N/Nmax]/F wherein P is the power (KW) in operating state; N is shear rate (sec ); Po is the power (KW) in unloaded state; Nmax is the maximum shear rate (sec ) and F is the treating amount (kg/hr)].
