Abstract: PURPOSE:To suppress the malodors generated at the time of molding of casting molds and pouring into the casting molds by masking by using a specific water- soluble resin compsn. as an org. binder of a molding sand type for production of castings. CONSTITUTION:This water-soluble resin compsn. consists of aroma components selected from a group of tetrahydrolinals, etc., as a component (A). These components are selected from alcohols, ketones, esters and ethers. The aroma components are relatively stable under an alkaline condition of about pH 12. This compsn. contains a surfactant of a cation or anion type of a polyexyethylene addition type as a component (B). The specific smells (mainly formaldehyde smell) generated from the kneading stage to the dies cutting stage and further in the casting mold combustion stage are drastically suppressed by masking and the working environment is improved when this comsn. is applied to the self-curing casing mold forming method as an org. binder.
