Abstract: PURPOSE:To carry out both heating and cooling operation simultaneously based on the heat stored by the application of nigh power by communicating a first secondary refrigeration cycle or a second secondary refrigeration cycle with a secondary side heat exchange means of a refrigerant heat exchanger by way of a switch over valve. CONSTITUTION:Under the condition where a primary heat exchange means HE1 of a refriger ant heat exchanger 17 is not used, using low cost night power at night, cold or heat is stored in a heat stored material in two sets of heat storage tanks 12a and 12b under the control of an outdoor expansion valve 5, a first heat storage tank expansion valve EX1, and a second heat storage tank expansion valve EX2. On the other hand, at daytime, cold storage operation or heat storage operation is suspended in a primary side refrigeration cycle while the operation is carried out in a secondary side refrigeration cycle which forms in parallel a second secon dary refrigeration cycle which comprises a secondary side heat exchanger 14a inside a first heat storage tank 12a, a first refrigerant transfer pump 15a, and selector valves installed to the inlet and outlet of indoor side heat exchangers 8a, 8b, and 8c and a second secondary side refrigeration cycle which comprises a secondary side heat exchanger 14b inside a second heat storage tank 12b. A second refrigerant transfer pump 15b, and a selector valve installed to the inlet and outlet of indoor side heat exchanger. Moreover, when no operation can be carried only with the stored heat or cold, cooling operation or heating operation must be carried out simultaneously in the primary side refrigeration cycle.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To maintain a refrigerating cycle always in an optimum condition in indoor cooling by controlling an electrically operated expansion valve on the indoor side on the basis of a difference between the temperature determined by an air-temperature sensor at the inlet of an indoor heat exchanger and the temperature determined by a line-temperature sensor at the outlet of refrigerant. CONSTITUTION:During the indoor cooling, when the temperature of the air passing through the indoor heat exchanger 9 has increased as a result of an increase in the indoor cooling load, the amount of the vaporization of the refrigerant inside the indoor heat exchanger 9 increases and consequently the temperature at the outlet 9A in the line increases. A line- temperature sensor 17 detects this increase of temperature and transmits a signal to an indoor unit-controlling means 13. An air-temperature sensor 15 also detects an increase of air temperature and likewise transmits a signal to the indoor unit-controlling means 13. The indoor unit-controlling means 13 compares the temperature determined by the air-temperature sensor 15 with the prescribed temperature and opens an electrically operated expansion valve on the indoor side by a degree equivalent to the increase in the temperature. Simultaneously, when the difference between the air temperature and the line temperature is less than a specified temperature, the indoor unit-controlling means 13 opens said expansion valve 8 further to a specified degree. Thus it is possible to maintain the operation practically in an optimum condition at all times.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To make a solenoid valve prevent refrigerating machine oil from moving from one machine to another one out of operation by controlling the solenoid valve to close when one of variable compressors stops. CONSTITUTION:When a variable pole type compressor 3 stops, and only a variable compressor 2 is in operation, simultaneously a two-way valve 20 is also closed, and the pressure of coolant discharged from the variable compressor 2 is transmitted to the variable pole type compressor 3 through a manifold pipe 15 in the reverse flow direction. Therefore, a pressure drop is produced through the pipeline, resulting in an increase in the differential internal pressure between the variable compressor 2 and the variable pole type compressor 3. In addition, as refrigerating machine oil in the compressor 2 in operation is given a rotational force by the rotation of a motor, a centrifugal force acts on the oil so as to make the oil flow out. Thus, due to the differential pressure and the centrifugal force, refrigerating machine oil tends to flow from the variable compressor 2 toward the variable pole type compressor 3. However, this flow of refrigerating machine oil does not occur because the two-way valve 20 is closed.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To enable defrosting according to the district where the title air conditioner is used for the outside air temperature and humidity conditions by such a defrosting control as to start a defrosting operation when the rate of change with time of the temperature of a piping for an exterior heat exchanger in a heating operation reaches a predetermined value according to the outside air temperature and the operating frequency of a variable- capacity compressor. CONSTITUTION:The outside air temperature T is detected by an outside air temperature sensor 9 provided at a piping on the inlet side of an exterior heat exchanger 3 in a heating operation. When the outside air temperature T is lowered to or below a temperature T0 at which a frosting phenomenon begins to occur, the temperature (t) of a piping for the exterior heat exchanger is detected at time intervals of DELTAtau, and the signals are inputted to a controller 10, which calculates alpha(T1, f1) as the rate of change with time, alpha, of the piping temperature (N: a positive temperature representing the number of times of temperature detection). On the other hand, data on rate of change with time alpha0(T, f) of the piping temperature for an optimum defrosting operation with the outside air temperature T and the operating frequency (f) of a variable-capacity compressor as parameters is stored in a memory. When alpha(T1, f1) during an operation reaches alpha0(T1, f1) stored in the memory, it is judged that a defrosting operation starting signal is detected, and a necessary defrosting mode signal is outputted to a motor driver 11 for the compressor 1, a four-way valve 2, a motor-driven expansion valve 4 or the like, thereby starting a defrosting operation.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To enable a cooling and a heating to be freely set individually at each of indoor units by a method wherein each of indoor heat exchangers has some parallel circuits of a first expansion valve, a first two-way valve, a second expansion valve and a second two-way valve connected thereto. CONSTITUTION:When only an indoor unit 6a, for example, is operated to heat air during a cooling operation mode, a first two-way valve 13a of a coolant branching unit 7 is opened, 13b and 13c are closed, a second two-way valve 14a is closed, 14b and 14c are opened, a first expansion valve 11a is fully closed, 11b and 11c are opened by a predetermined degree, a second expansion valve 12a is fully opened, 12b and 12c are fully closed, a bypassing two-way valve 15 is closed, coolant of high temperature and high pressure from an outdoor heat exchanger 4 is supplied to an indoor unit 6a and to indoor units 6b and 6c through the first expansion valves 11b and 11c. In turn, when the indoor unit 6a performs a cooling operation under a heating operation mode and the indoor units 6b and 6c perform a heating operation under a heating operation mode, the coolant branching unit 7 is in turn changed over. In this way, it is possible to set the cooling and heating operations individually within each of the indoor units and perform a simultaneous operation.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To enable normally stable cooling (heating) operation at a heat exchange capacity on the outdoor side matching the number of operating indoor machines, by a method wherein the two refrigerant flow passages of the heat exchanger on the outdoor side are individually or simultaneously used at the operating capacity of capacity variable compressor. CONSTITUTION:Two-way valves 17a and 17b are situated to the inlet and the outlet of a heat exchanger A15 on the outdoor side, and two-way valves 18a and 18b are similarly situated to the inlet and the outlet of a heat exchanger B16 on the outdoor side. A ratio in size between the heat exchanger A15 on the outdoor side and the heat exchanger B16 on the outdoor side is 1:2. When a capacity of an outdoor machine 1 is 10HP, the heat exchanger A15 on the outdoor side has a capacity equivalent of 3.3HP, and the heat exchanger B16 on the outdoor side has a capacity equivalent to 6.7HP. As noted above, the heat exchanges A15 and B16 on the outdoor side having different capacity are interconnected in parallel, and by controlling the two-way valves mounted to the respective inlets and outlets, the two-way valves 17a, 17b, 18a, and 18b are opened and closed according to the number of operating indoor machines 7 (a total operating horse power). By switching the heat exchangers A15 and B16 on the outdoor side, stable operation is practicable at a normally proper indoor and outdoor heat exchange capacity.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve control stability, energy savingness and reliability, by a method wherein a pressure detector is located in a piping (in an outdoor machine) running between an indoor machine and a 4-way valve, and based on a combination step of the frequency and the number of poles of an inverter, both being predetermined according to a detecting pressure, a capacity combination step is decided. CONSTITUTION:A pressure detector is located in a piping (in an outdoor machine) running between an indoor machine and a 4-way valve, and an operation capacity deciding means is provided for deciding a capacity combination step based on a combination step of the frequency and the number of poles of an inverted, both being predetermined according to a detecting pressure therefrom. A capacity combination step wherein a differential is produced between capacities before and after the starting and the stop of a pole varying type compressor or change of the number of poles when capacity is increased and capacity is decreased is provided. A differential is produced between total capacities of two compressors during the starting and the stop of the pole varying type compressor and change of the number of poles. This constitution causes control of capacity to always improve controllability according to an air conditioning load and a present operation state at a relatively low given interval and without frequent change of the number of poles.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To improve amenity by controlling a flow control valve provided between an oil separator and a suction pipe of a compressor to a larger flow rate, an expansion valve to the maximum flow rate and the capacity of the compressor to an increase during the defrosting operation in the return of a refrigerant and refrigerating machine oil and in the control of the defrosting operation. CONSTITUTION: When detecting frost on an outdoor side heat exchanger 7, a defrosting operation control means increases the capacity of a compressor 12 to open the travel of an electromagnetic expansion valve 6 to the full capacity. At the same time, the travel of a flow control valve 13 is increased to allow bypassing in flow rate between high and low pressures of the compressor 12. An outdoor side blower 11 is stopped to reduce the amount of air of a room heat exchanger 10. This prevents the destruction of the compressor 12 as caused by the compression of a liquid while allowing the continuation of heating as intact during the defrosting thereby improving amenity.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To prevent hunting or the like and improve the amenity by a method wherein the air conditioning load is detected, a frequency control is carried out and an electric expansion valve is controlled according to the air conditioning load and an operating frequency. CONSTITUTION: Each of settings of maximum capability of each of indoor devices is detected by a maximum capability sensing means 14, either an operation or a non-operation is detected by an operation sensing means 15, the detection result is inputted to a maximum capability sensing means 16 to detect a maximum capability attained during its operation. The room temperature is measured by a room temperature sensing means 20 and the set temperature is measured by a set temperature sensing means 21, these measured values are inputted to a load sensing means 22 to attain an air conditioning load of each of the indoor devices and then the load of an electric compressor 1 is calculated by a load calculating means 23. Then, the frequency is determined by a frequency determining means 24 according to the load and a maximum capability during its operation and then the operation is performed. With such an arrangement as above, hunting and the like can be prevented and the amenity by air conditioning can be improved.
