Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surge absorbing element capable of effectively preventing the generation of dynamic current without limiting current and use of a breaking function element by arranging at discharge gap intervals a plurality of discharge electrodes on which an oxygen ion conductor layer is formed within a gas tight container into which discharge gas is sealed. SOLUTION: A pair of discharge electrodes 12 made of a round Ni rod for example is arranged in parallel at the specified intervals to form a discharge gap 16. The discharge electrodes to which a lead wire 14 is connected are sealed in a gastight container 18 made of a glass tube for example together with discharge gas comprising inert gas such as Ar to form a discharge type surge absorbing element 10. An oxygen ion conductor layer 20 is formed on the surface of at least one of the electrodes 12. The oxygen ion conductor layer 20 is preferably made of either one of GdCaCr2 O3 , LaSrMnO3 , ZrO2(0.92) Y2 O3(0.08) , and CeO2(0.08) Gd2 O3(0.2) . The oxygen ion conductor layer 20 whose temperature is raised by arc discharge caused by applying surge releases O2 , discharge retaining voltage is increased, and dynamic current is prevented.

SOLUTION: In a gas discharge display panel 10, in which a back base plate 12 with plural pieces of band-type negative electrodes 20 provided in parallel and a front base plate 14 which plural pieces of transparent positive electrodes 24 provided in parallel are arranged, so that they face each other and electrodes on each base plate are crossed each other with a specific space apart, and a discharge gas is sealed in an outer enclosure 18, a getter material container 34 communicated to the outer enclosure 18 is formed and a getter material 38 which is constituted by impregnating barium azide solution in inorganic is filled in the getter material container 34.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a gas discharge display panel where a transparent electrode itself is not disconnected even when the transparent electrode on the front substrate side is damaged in one discharge cell, and no discharge cell other pad than the damage position becomes undischargeble. CONSTITUTION:A discharge cell 28 is formed at every crossed part of each electrode by arranging a back substrate 12 where a plurality of strip-shaped cathodes 18 are continuously arranged, and a transparent front substrate 14 where a plurality of strip-shaped transparent anodes 24 are continuously arranged so that the electrode of each substrate may be crossed with the prescribed space therebetween, and the peripheral edges of both substrates are sealed air-tight to make an envelope 16. In a gas discharge display panel 10 where the discharge gas is sealed inside, a first bulkhead 26a of a front side barrier rib 26 to partition each transparent electrode 24 is formed on an electrode forming surface of the front substrate 14, and the right side part 24a of each transparent electrode 24 is covered with by the first bulkhead 26a.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To increase light emission efficiency and light convergence property in a discharge cell, and provide display of an extremely high brightness by providing a columnar cathode, and a barrier rib having a hole part in which the columnar cathode is contained. CONSTITUTION:A columnar cathode 20 is provided with a lower end part embedded in a cathode holding layer 22 covering a surface of an insulation substrate 11 and a surface of a cathode pulling pattern 18, and an upper end part protruded outside the layer 22. A cathode side barrier rib 23 is formed to cover a surface of the layer 22, and plural hole parts 24 are formed corresponding to the cathodes 20. As a DC voltage is applied between a transparent anode 30 and the cathode 20, discharge is generated in a discharge cell 36, UV-ray is generated, and phosphor is excited to radiate light of a specified emission color to the external. At this time, not only a top surface of the cathode 20 but also a side circumferential surface of it contribute to discharge, so the UV-ray is radiated sufficiently to the phosphor applied to the surface of the layer 22 and an inner wall of the hole part 24 to increase light emission efficiency and light convergence property of the cell 36 can be increased, thereby display of an extremely high brightness can be provided.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To easily detect size difference between upper and lower barrier ribs in a bilayer structure barrier rib and improve manufacturing efficiency of gas discharging display panels. CONSTITUTION:Cathodes 3 are formed in parallel like stripes on the upper face of a back side substrate 2 made of an insulator and rows of white color first barrier ribs which are sandwitched between neighboring cathodes 3, are formed. Bluish violet color emitter layers 5 of mainly lanthanum hexaboride (LaB6) are formed between neighboring first barrier ribs 4 while coating the surface of the cathodes 3. Then, black color second barrier ribs 6 are formed and stuck to the upper faces of the first barrier ribs. The cathodes 3 formed on the back side substrate 2 and anodes 8 formed on a front substrate 7 made of a insulating material are arranged to face 8 and cross each other while keeping discharge spaces among them.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a display panel enabling a lead-out terminal for an electrode formed in one of insulation substrates to be collectively provided on the other thereof by disposing a sealing agent at the outer end portions of the mentioned one insulation substrate surface opposing the other mentioned insulation substrate surface even if the remaining surplus space can not be secured on the mentioned opposing surface of the mentioned one insulation substrate. CONSTITUTION:A front face substrate 4 formed with a transparent electrode 12, and a rear face substrate 6 formed with an electrode 24, are disposed in a manner that the respective electrode-formation surfaces thereof are opposed thereto with a specified gap therebetween, and the electrode formation surfaces of the both substrates are hermetically sealed via a sealing agent 36, to thereby form a space portion 38 between the substrates. In this gas discharge display panel 2, an electrode lead-out end portion 18 integrally formed with the transparent electrode 12 is adhered to a side face 16 of the front face substrate 4 while, at the same time, a terminal portion 30 is formed at an end edge portion 28 of the rear face substrate 6. A conductive adhesive agent 40 is disposed between the electrode lead-out end portion 18 and the terminal portion 30, thereby electrically connecting both together.
